Boot won't open

Boot won't open with key (key won't turn in lock) and the internal release failed at w/end too. Sounds as though the cable linkage has uncoupled itself somehow.
Before I get it booked into Keith Price at Abergavenny, has anyone had same failure? If so, any idea if it can be a DIY fix?

Thanks

There is an override "switch" on the internal side of the boot lock... if you put this into the override position (maybe accidentally) you are fooked if your key doesn't work (this happened to me...)

You could try dismantling the interior rear seats and get into the boot that way to see if the override switch has been flicked into override position OR drill the lock out and replace the lock (unless you know a good locksmith that can pick them!)

Thanks for info.

I don't believe I've caught the internal override switch in the boot.

When I pull the internal release by pilot seat, I can hear cable moving, but it's clearly not connected to the release mechanism.

Seat dismantling...............mmmmm.......not sure I'm up for that!

The only way back there is to remove your rear seats.

This is really simple - just 2 bolts on the lower section, and then 3 or 4 on the upper section. You can leave your seat belts alone, so no worries there.

Just gotta be careful trying to get top hooks back in again, as the rear window got in my way of a clear view.

Simple 20 min job really...

if you can't be arsed doing that then try flippin down the centre console and shine a torch back there to see if the cable is still attached or anything obvious like that.

Thanks Caveman.

I will hope for good weather at w/end and get the socket set out.

I think your problem there is you have over filled the boot.
I find I can only carry one corpse at a time without the bodies getting in the way of the hinges and cables.

Could you not operate the switch from the ski hatch? Maybe at least be able to see it from there?
