Oioi, that's the beginning of the end.
I'd recommend to sell the car asap.
If you get £7000, go for it.

The PO458 code is very grave indeed, especially with the WR1

I'd keep it quiet and sell it on autotrader.
It can still last 1500 miles, but it could also just last another 200m.
Subaru and Prodrive always managed to keep the construction fault really quiet which wasn't too difficult given the low numbers the WR1 was produced in.

Couldn't you just replace whichever part is faulty? I'm assuming that the management system is flagging up a part or parts is/are about to fail??

this may help
P0458 = Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit High
You have to replace your "Leak Detection Pump". When the solenoid within this pump is not active, it throws this code.
A Leak Detection Pump is a small air pump. It pressurizes the EVAP & Fuel system to make sure there are no leaks. This ensures that no harmful vapors are escaping to the atmosphere. It is used by the PCM. This is actually a pretty small pump and doesn't have a lot of pressure behind it so they do fail pretty easily. And....this is a part of the emissions system, so yes...It can make you fail your state inspection

You could. But where's the fun in replacing a 12 quid part if you can change the whole car?
