tyre wear

Postby WR1 STB » Mon Jul 12, 2010 10:42 am

Hello folks just wondering if anyone has ever had the same problem as myself on there 1. My rear driver side tyre has worn down in the middle section below the legal limit but the ouside areas have plenty of tread on. I have had the rear shocks knocking a bit but have used the wd40 fix which has taken the noise away and the car handles fine. Could the shocks be the reason? The passenger rear tread is fine.

What tyre pressure are you running?

Sounds like an over inflated tyre possibly if the middle is worn...

Yep John, that is what I was thinking. People tend to run higher pressures on track to save tyre edge

cheers lads my pressure was not good. But seems strange as when checking the owners manual for correct pressure there was a bit about uneven wear which stated that wear in the center of the tyre means that there is too much pressure. On checking my pressure i found i was 25psi all round. I am now up to 31psi at the rear and 33psi at the front. Hope this doesnt make it worse!

it wont make the tyre wear worse but myself I wouldnt have 33psi at the front & 31psi at the back, id have it the other way round for better grip on handling when cornering.
