Found something in the cupboard on drivers side

Postby Brian » Mon Sep 27, 2004 12:08 pm

I found a electronic keypad in the Drivers Side glove compartment, situated low down under the ignition and to the right a bit,
have all WR1s this keypad ??

What the heck is it for as well ??

Dealer didnt mention it too me and i found it by accident (looking for somewhere to store loose change)

well you obviously haven't RTFM have you Brian  ?

I read the f*king manual and thought 'wheres this keypad they keep going on about ?'

I think its main uses are for programming the Sigma alarm....you can set it to automatically lock the door when you start the engine up and other 'useful' things! Theres an option to immobilise the car so that even with the keys you need to enter a code to disable the immobiliser - useful maybe if you go on holiday.....

I'm gonna frame this post because I am probably the least mechanically minded scooby owner ever and doubt I will ever be able to answer a question in the technical forum ever again :o

ahh ha. thats whats its for but i bet it cant do the most useful thing - Close the windows when you arm the car alarm !!

Had this on every other vehicle i have owned including all my vans :)

The times i leave the windows open, or have to sit and wait for them to close :(

I'll post them on here in a little while so they are here for everyone to use.

How come you didn't get the owners handbook from the dealers? :?

A system such as the Blackjax is a good way forwards if you want to type a code in before take off.

The Sigma M30 alarm system has many more features than you may be aware of. The standard Subaru fitted system has the majority of these features switched off for simplicity and to conform to European legislation. Just to let you know what can be done

The site i got the above codes from does differ slightly from my handbook, in which numbers 1,3,6 and 7 are given as being "for future use" so i've not tried any of those on my car yet.

There were further settings for full programming, diagnostics and features which seemed to be beyond what i'm guessing most of us need to know :?

If anyone wants the other info PM me and i'll send it to you.

Why does it contravene legislation to have the chirps on when car is armed? I switched mine on so I can walk away from it and hear it arm.
