Just had new performance friction pads fitted all round and they make quite a loud 'clonky' type of noise every time I press the brake pedal at low speeds 
I went back to the garage who fitted the pads and showed them the problem and they told me theres nothing wrong with them and said its simply the nature of the pads as they 'float' in the calipers. They said its probably made that noise from day one but is more noticeable now with the new pads because the fast road pads are much harder therefore make a stronger/louder noise.
Can anyone else shed any light on the matter.
Ive done about 400 miles on the new pads now so there definitely worn in!

Somebody posted a fix to this by Alyn at ASP?!? Wasn't it something like thicker grease or something??

It was a post by Alyn. He said where to put the copper grease. I know you usually put copper grease on the rear of the pad but I think he mentioned on the edges too... Search for the post and don't trust my memory.

I have PF pads and have the exact same problem. Only happens at under 10mph though. Be interesting to see the fix

got p.f pads on mine done at autotecnica, no noise on it though.
it is better to have had a wr1 and lost it than never to have one at all.

He uses white stuff on other things... not on brakes.

Tried everything and nothing seems to cure it. Last option would be to change pads AGAIN. Do redstuff pads suffer the same problem?

copper grease doesn't melt in brake systems (unless your running "le mans" type laps!!)
out of all the cars we see its usually a combination of pad debris build up inside the pad guides of the caliper (simple cleanliness when fitting new pads) and a lack of copper grease in the correct place..........
