condensation in boot

Postby madogp » Tue Apr 13, 2010 7:24 pm

Hi all

i am not sure if i have a leak or its just a lot of condensation, i fist knoticed a wet patch on the carpet on the right hand sid eof the boot. On further inspection i found that the cardboard lid covering the spare was wet and showing sings of mould. then found quite alot of the boot floor wet.

has anyone else had this or is it just condensation from the fuel tank ?

cheers

Me thinks you have a leak somewhere !
I never have any condensation forming in the boot.

Common things to check are the rubber seal round the outside of the boot - make sure it is a seal and hasnt coroded away. the boot design is terrible as theres not much angle on it so water stands a while in places which is why a lot of scoobs get rusty boots.

other thing to check is the seal on the bolts where the wing is attached to the boot lid. quite often this wears out and needs to be topped up with a silicon fix from the dealership. Ive noticed jetwashing gets under the spoiler sometimes and leaks down those bolts or into the boot slightly so you might want to be careful if you use a jetwash.

hope this helps and im sure someone more techical will give you better advice :)

Same thing happened to me. I pulled the seal off and piled clear sealant underneath and put the seal back in place smearing more selant around the area. Its done the trick and I now have a dry, leak free boot

Thanks for all the help guys, i checked the boot rubber and it looked ok. but i had just washed it with the jet wash so i will try the silicone around the seal first
