Postby jimbo » Thu Jun 09, 2005 7:18 pm

does anyone know what size the front speakers are? - ive fitted a decent kenwood double din head unit but i dont think the standard fit speakers are up to the job, or has any one got any recommendations on what sort to get? (im not interested in gettin an amp or anythin like that, just want some good soundin speakers!)

thanks

I think it has the speaker sizes in the handbook. I can't remember off the top of my head.

just had mine done, went for Focal 16.5cm V Slim, not cheap but were so well recommended,
had a new shelf made for the back window and 6x9 pioneers fitted, original rears were disconected. no sub or amp needed.

Sounds ok, but after 3 subaru system anything would sound good.

IF I was doing it again I would not bother with the rear shelf or rear door ones as it sounds as good with just the fronts.

The front speakers are 6.5" and the rear are 5.25"

i have now fitted an infinity kappa component system in the front and infinity kappa in the rear - sounds alot, lot better now (dvds especially) -

Do they take standard depth speakers? Or do they have to be slim ones? I'm sure I read that normal depth ones don't fit... I am looking to get some new speakers soon.

I am pretty sure that you will need a couple of spacers making up for them.

Pretty easy to just jigsaw some out of MDF and drill a few holes, but not 100% sure on the thickness you are going to need - guess it depends on the speaker depth.

Measure twice - buy and cut once!!
