How does the licensing system work for the ECUTek ECU?

As I understand it. The ECU is unlocked in its virgin state. You pay a load of money for ecutek trained man to fiddle with the ECU, he then locks software so only ecutek men can charge more money, access ECU and fiddle a bit more.

Almost..

1) Ecutek doesnt train anyone.
2) The Ecutek lock doesnt stop everyone remapping it. I havent found an ecu locked to me yet.

Isn't EcuTek the same method that the PPP is put on normal STi's?

Whereas Prodrive themselves use Pectel in the proper cars...
