WR1 emissions failure

Looking for advice/help - I was told my WR1 was totally standard, but failed the MOT today on emissions - the garage say it has been de-catted, hence the failure. Is there any way of passing the MOT other than having to buy a new exhaust system with a cat??

Thanks in advance

There is only one cat in the original wr1 system its in the downpipe, easy enough to check if its there yourself just open bonnet & look at the pipe coming from the back of the turbo. If the cat is still in place you should see this

The white heatproof material you see is covering the cat.

If its not there did it fail by much? There are additives you can put in your fuel that will reduce emissions a bit like Millers Eco Max, but if it was way over then that won't help much.

Cheers - not sure by how much it failed by. Assuming I need a replacement, anyone recommend an aftermarket down pipe with sports cat?? Subaru quoted £580 from them!!

Thats the problem - it is de-cat apparently but failing the MOT because of it.

Make sure there not just failing it because the second cat has been removed as this is removed when the ppp was fitted, ie make sure it is because the emissions are actually too high and not just that the second cat has been removed. The first thing to do as others state is to see if the first cat in the downpipe is fitted or not.

the problem with most sports cat is that they need to be HOT................

never had any issues with a pukka Prodrive sports cat and emissions, but have had various problems with the cheap 100CEL ones

Toattly agree with Alyn above. Prodrive Sportscat will not be an issue if it is HOT.

Take it for a HARD run then drop it off to the MOT guys and test it then....... should be fine :)

I don't see what the issue is with de-cat. Half the scoobs and Evo drive around without cat.

You don't need another cat, you need another MOT station.

Also, the car doesn't really need to fail the MOT test because of the decat. Some cars, if they run well, will get low enough emissions to pass the test without cat.

Sorry for asking but how will taking a DECAT WR1 for a good blast prior to the MOT test make it pass emissions.............................. :?:
