Any truth in this?

"Hello people
Went to the autosport show yesterday
and was told that most WR1 subaru's
need the ECU's remapping is their anyone
who has heared of this?"

"A lot of the WR1 owners went to a RR day and Mike Wood from subaru was there and apparently did tweek a few of the cars... It has been rumoured that the power output can vary from 280 bhp to 330bhp within the WR1's and it was rumoured that many after the RR day were at the 330 end"

Any truth in it? Would anything be achieved by re-mapping a standard WR1?

re-mapping any standard car will give you gains for sure...its not just limited to the WR1.

Ofcourse if you want to splash out that kind of dosh on just a standard car then fair enough, but with a relatively small outlay for other bits to include too, the re-map will give you even more gains.

Mike Wood certainly did some "checking" of cars on the rollers. At the RR I attended it there were around 30 cars running on a rather hot day. Anyway, from what I recall 99% of the cars were putting out what they should put out. Also, if I recall properly, there was one car that was putting out miserable figures around the 280 mark. Whatever came of this I do not know.

I'd be gutted shelling out £30k and finding out I was getting 45bhp less than I paid for...

Is it possible to have a straight remap, without adding any hardware, but adding launch control, and other toys, etc?

Promised myself I'd never tinker with my car but the de-cat and remap are now looking like an option. - I'm just worried about emmisions and MoT.

If you go for the full Zorst system/headers etc, think about the RCM system or similar WHERE you could retain the cat section to be 'slid in' for MOT purposes.
either that, or find a friendly MOT tester !

I think I would just like to de-cat/remap - but keep the original prodrive exhaust. Any point in this?
