Standard WR1? 6s
Modified 400bhp? 7s
BMW M5? 1 min 4s

I think people were running early 12s on here in slightly modded WR1. I think JP ran a 12.25s in his 360BHP modded one but it was altered to 6s after he threatened to do some jacky chan on the officials....

I've never tried 1/4mile sprints but I've heard that there is a bit more to them than just flooring it and getting through the gears quickly. There is/was a thread on here that someone started about the best way to drive the 1/4mile sprints... People have different techniques depending on how spasticated they are

I think you should beat the FQ300 depending on who is the better driver because the EVO is computer controlled so you don't even need legs to drive it!!

Book figure was 12.8 but that would be with no sympathy to the transmission & was set by Mike Woods from Prodrive.

Never done the 1/4 myself but something i picked up on from some of the Scottish boys that go to Crail is to lock the diff(top orange square) on the start line to get better grip for the launch.

Ive seen 2004 Subaru STI PPP's running 300BHP doing the 1/4 mile in 14 secs so given we have only a fraction more power id use that as your target. The one in question did use launch control too so wasnt hanging around. Personally i think its a bit cruel on the transmission the way they rev to 5k rpm and literally drop the clutch... would be surprised if the car could take many starts like that without the clutch or something breaking?! :)

I wouldn't drop it from 6k as you might bend or snap something... If you are going to gun it I'd try to slip the clutch to get started and go through the clutch as quickly as possible without dropping it.... either way you are going to hammer your clutch!!

Make sure you get someone to video it, at least you may get £250 from Beadle for a new clutch

John,

You do have to drop the clutch mate, letting it out slowly at 5k rpm is what almost certainly fooks the clutch for life. dropping the clutch is better for the clutch although brutal on the rest of the car as you transform 316bhp in a fraction of a second to the wheels. Ive done 1 drop clutch start in mine to see how it feels doing 0-60 in 4 secs... 1st gear lasts about 0.1 secs before u change gear to second then third... once you get up to 4th you suddenly get hit with this smell of burning clutch and rubber which lasts for the next 6 miles. I then googled how much a new clutch is to fit and realised that it would be around 1k to change even oem clutch due to the labour so thought best not do it often

Dropping the revs at 6000rpm on a standard WR1 will only damage the clutch.

I used mine in local drag racing last year, launch control set at 6000rpm and 1.3 bar on Toyo 888's. Only thing I have hadissues with is the Exedy organic clutch slipping badly after 30 or so launches.

yep agree with above....set launch control to 5500 or 6000...build up the boost then side step the clutch.

oh yeah, set the DCCD to locked too.

I did 4 runs like this in the space of 1.5 hrs...no issues at all.

best time was a 12.7 at just over 106mph...shite reaction though at 0.4
