I had a whistling noise and it was some sort of wastegate sticking on the turbo.

No idea mate... I think mine was a wastegate issue? But I also know I could be wrong. I know nothing technical. Sorry

I'm not technical like Bro but has he not got any warranty with the car if he's only just bought it?

Does it make the noises when you just rev it under no load or does it only make the noise when you are driving? (or both)

Isn't the wastegate on these a recirculating one?

He doesnt mind the noise from the turbo, its more the crackling noise when he puts his foot down, only does it some times . Boost is around 1.5+ bar .

Crackling = Det, or rather extremely bad Det.

It should not be boosting at that level as std and could be in extreme danger of killing itself very shortly.

Whistling - turbo bearings fooked and blades catching the housing perhaps.

i think the whistling sounds more like an air leak somewhere. Car hasnt always make crackling noise, car was serviced and origional air filter was put in, k&n was removed, would this make a diference ?
Can The car be driven ?

Thanks
