Tyres (with protector strip)

Postby robwils » Mon Mar 23, 2009 4:01 pm

Does anybody know which tyres you can get that have 'protection strips' that protrude out to give wheel some protection against kerbing.

Looking at the pirellis on mine the wheel edge will be first thing to hit anything.

I've heard Bridegstone RE50's have them, any others ?? :?

Falken FK-452 (225/40 ZR18 92Y RFD with rim protection)
Avon ZZ3 (225/40 R18 92Y XL Rim flange protection)
Toyo PROXES T1-R (225/40 ZR18 92Y RF with rim protection ridge)
Dunlop SP SPORT 9000 (225/40 R18 ZR with rim protection)
Michelin Pilot SPORT PS2 (225/40 ZR18 92Y EL with rim protection ridge)

Ah you have the same problem as me then... Do they do big airbags to make the car look like a rib speedboat for use when the missus takes it to a supermarket?

Why is it that when you park miles away from anyone else in a car park, so far away in fact that you need get a train, bus and taxi to the shop entrance.... that when you return, someone has deemed it within their level of life-form intelligence to park next to you.... and not just next to you but actually managed to to ensure it takes you 3-4 attemps to get out without broadsiding either vehicle?? Why is that? :x
