Dump valve

Postby Foley » Thu Mar 05, 2009 10:20 pm

Is the hks dump valve a straight swap for the standard re-c valve?
Or do you need blanking plugs?
Cheers j

If you mean a vent to atmosphere then you need to blank the one pipe that returns to the intake pipe, usually a BOV (blow off valve) or dump valve comes with one, if not, there are plenty on such places as eBay etc the size needed is a 34mm blank, apart from that it is a strait swap. Hope this help you mate 8)

Just becareful when pulling the original one off as there is a gasket behind it and if you go at it like a bull in a China shop it will tear

This is what it looks like fitted 8) 8) 8)

Looks a lot better but makes your car sound terrible (IMHO). No performance gain whatsoever, can make your car run a little lumpy, and does not do anything for the already shite image of the average Subaru owner to Joe public.

All the more reason to fit a DV if you ask me.

I hate them cos they sound shite and turn heads because people think the bus doors are opening or that you have a distressed bird in your engine bay.

They screw with the fueling by dumping metered air and cause reduced MPG, they make it run lumpy, often fail and are a complete waste of money.

but that's just my opinion and if you want to impress the guys down at MaccieD's go for it :thumb:

I'd rather spend the £80 - £200 on something that is at the very least unharmful to the car and possibly even something that makes it go quicker, stop better or handle better.

They are attention seeking - that is the whole point of sponsor logos on a race car ;)

Therefore... maybe you should consider a DV to draw MORE attention to your car and thus your Sponsor logos?
