I would never fit wider tyres. The whole idea of 4WD back in 1980 when the Quattro came was that you could use powerful engines without the need for wide tyres that have crap grip in the rain. I know wide tyres are much better in the wet nowadays than 20 years ago and narrow tyres can handle more power. Still does stop you trying to make the best of your 4WD by combining power with narrower tyres.
Does'nt the new STI come with 235 when fitted with 18"rims ?
I'm sure I read that 235's are too wide for the WR1. I'm sure I read the tyres would hit the wheel arches on full bump. I've had all four wheels off the ground on mine before, so I'll be sticking with 225's unless I get the wheel arches rolled out. Anders

He does'nt go above 45mph (only jokin Chris) I think wozza fitted 235's on hos and complained they ruined the handling???

Nice. I took mine for a play in a field when I was last back in the Isle of man. Nothing too harsh, but wanted to do some proper four wheel drift without worrying about hedges on the road! I'll take some video next time I go back. Anders

It would be good to know where you read this, I did quite a few searches before putting them on and spoke to various Subaru dealers. There are no problems so far.
