I suppose an ECU is only as good as it is mapped i.e. mapper's ability. If the mapping is not quite up to scratch then you may not be fully utilising the ECUs potential? :?

To be fair there is nothing wrong with the std ecu and it would have been able to cope with the level you are at.

Mine is working fine at 550/550 although tbh it is at it's complete limit

I still have the std ECU which was mapped to 360 brake. I guess the only advantage the Solaris has is things like anti lag and launch control and a mode switch where I can switch for the car to run 97 ron i.e. inferior petrol in case of emerencies, then switch back when I have V Power. However, that said, I have been experiencing spooky  things like the AC not working, lights going out on the heater switches etc. Not sure what will be next :suss:

I will see what Paul says at Zen when I am down there in 2 weeks - he seemed very positive when I told him I was running a Solaris ECU. I guess I shoud stick to Solaris for now and give Paul the opportunity to work his magic.

any problems with horn/hazards? I have had the light for heater controls go 3 times since the rebuild, and horn and hazards more than that, replace the fuses and they dont last long. seems to be a short somewhere on the horn which will be investigated next time the car is in, I know Dunc has similar probs...

Now that is interesting Dan. In the 2 years of my ownership of the "1" before the mods, I never experienced anything going wrong inside the car. Since the mods it's been

Lights - on the heater dial has gone.
A/C - does not work
Heat - you have to turn it right to max  for heat otherwise it blows cool air  but not cold enough to replace the A/C

I hope the horn does not go as I have been using that extensively since starting my new job travelling to Theale everday!

Thats what you get from taking your car to Scoobyclinic. Ask WR1 Bro what's gone wrong with his since he had it messed with ....

The heater and air con thing - You could well have an air lock in the coolant system up in the heater matrix area. I would drain and refill the system.

Alternatively remove header tank cap, start car, let it warm up until the thermostat kicks in and refill the system accordingly???

It might work, but no guarantees. Put it like this, you won't be sure, so you may as well do it right the first time and refill the system nice and slowly from afresh.

I'm sure "they" have a side to this story too and life experience tends to suggest it will not be one sided. Given your history I would put a huge bet on this :toofunny: I just hope you don't bring a "bad" name to WR1s with RCM.

:finger:

When you have spent over £6.5k then you have some rights as a customer to complain considering it took them 3 go's to get it right - and even then they were not able to come up with the figures I was sold in the first place! You need not worry about RCM as Paul at Zen is able to provide mapping for the solaris - I am sure you will not loose your group discount at RCM!
