HKS filter oil ?

Postby The Swede » Mon Jun 11, 2007 1:30 pm

I know K&N airfilters need to be oiled after you clean them.

I got an HKS panel filter in the car which I cleaned yesterday.

Should I also oil it ? Using what oil ?

What is the oil actually for ? The only 'reasons' I could think of is :
1. being more oily, the dust should stick in better
2. high airflow through this 'spunge' probably dries the thing seriously and I assume the oil keeps it of going brittle ?

I thought the oil was to catch micro dust...

Whats the point in cleaning them :?

1. Take off
2. Buy cleaner
3. Clean
4. Get possibly splashed and dirty
5. Re-oil
6. Put back.

7. just go and buy a new one
