I think you'll find it's the sachet of silicon and alcohol that comes with the PIAA wipers, that provides the water dispersal properties.
piaa also do the screen protect which is a bit like rain x for those of you who have had piaa wipers on for a while, or even if you got normal wipers. these are 5.99 a bottle
PIAA come with a alcohol wipe to prepare the windscreen. The silicon comes from the wipers blades which you leave running for five mins once installed.
The sachet contains 2% silicon iirc. But yes you're right the blades themselves are silicon and coat the screen.
As far as wiper blades go - PIAA wipers are by far the best i have had on a car and they last too..
i have the same piaa wipers on my lexus now for 4 years... styles of the wipers do differ: with spoiler/wthout carbon style/plain black but the blade remains the same... through the whole range. very good for motorway driving, cos they dont get used as much they tend to last alot longer....
Ive just put a set of sparco wipers on my sti and they look super cool
