Postby WR1 Bro » Fri May 12, 2006 1:06 pm

I have these and they are superb!!!!!

I got them from GGR but since realised i was paying over the odds. this was the best place i found for them. will also give you the sizes (in case they are different to your car)

Are you capable of a DIY fitment?

If you wait for 3 months, you can have mine for free

The 'housing' is pretty expensive, but you can replace the rubbers in them pretty cheaply.

Got the carbon look ones.

No clue which size, but pretty sure the WR1 wipers are still the same as the STi ones.

I'll keep mine for Bro. You probably only need other blades.

Hang on a sec here - how can you use second hand ones? for them to work properly you need to treat the windscreen first so where you going to get that from???

Not sure that treating windscreeen really does anything. If you think of it, you're just nicely cleaning it and two weeks later, the thing is saturated with polluted particles again.

Still, I must say I am very pleased with the PIAA wipers, which had been recommended to me by Pops, btw. :thumb:

I have used them throughout the winter here, including in April and october, the two months when they use salt on the roads (abundantly !).

No decrease in their performance.

Build quality is also spot on.

Expensive ? Yes ! Worth it ? Yes !

My I suggest Bosch Aerotwins as replacements. I changed from PIAA to these and found several improvements.

Chris B and Bob also have them fitted.

Here's a few shots I've just taken.

Can someone explain why you rate them so highly? Very interested to hear the benefits they offer over the PIAAs.

I first saw them on some Merc C Classes we had. They're standard fit now on Merc VW Audi and a fair few others.

To start with you could only buy them to fit the ones that came OE, but now they're starting to filter through as direct replacements for non OE.

They sit much lower on your windscreen as my last picture hopefully shows. Standard blades have about 8 pressure points where the rubber is pressed against the screen. With the "Flat blades" as they've been called, it's over 1000 contact points.

How do they compare when you don't want to use the wipers at speed since the PIAA leave behind a quick clear silicone film?

This is what i like about the Piaa's, the fact that you hardly have to use them at 60mph+
