It's a bit of a pisser really as I was looking at the evo's before finally deciding on a WR1...

I decided against them though as I couldn't afford to run an FQ400.

:toofunny:

What a question. Can anyone name ONE reason why an Evo, which is of a similar size, weight and engine lay-out (both petrol, turbo, 2000cc, so no 'dieseltorque' :blahblah:) as a Scoob would not be faster if it has 366bhp vs 316 for the Scoob ??? :cuckoo:

Some people need to stop bullsh1ting on these forums.

In summary, you'll get trashed by an Evo of similar power in any corner and you'll get trashed by a 360 in straight line.

Do like us, get a 320 and tune it to 380-390 bhp.

I know they are faster.

I just wanted to know if it'd totally thrash me straight line.

There's no performance figures on the web the for the FQ360 0-100mph or ¼mile times.

What about a Litchfield 25 and an FQ360?

As Jonny said, (esp. in corners) it depends on the driver ability because a sh!t driver is still a sh!t driver no matter how good the car. In the words of Bro, you can't polish a turd

I agree. I've seen a good driver in a 1983 stand 318i BMW shaming 450+ bhp Evos, TVRs, Focus ST.... etc etc etc. Straightline is "slightly" different.

Road racing should not be encouraged. There is only one location for such experiements.

:lol2:

So true indeed.

Actually, even with the same driver behind the wheel, one car might be faster than the other. It all depends what type of car suits you well.

The discussion Evo vs Scoob is as old as the cars themselves. I love the Evo, Spike and Dan didn't get to grips with it. All a matter of what you want from a car.

And straightline races is for girls or, worse, fcuking Yanks.

You had to bring Focus ST into it didnt you... tshh ;)

I do agree though the drivers ability has a lot to do with it. I think we should get a group buy or a club day out somewhere where we each get some expert tuition to tweak our skills in our own cars in a safe environment. The Free Prodrive day that I got with the Fiesta ST and the Focus ST down in warwick was invaluable. The problem with track days and track tuition is that this is designed to be used on grippy tracks where you have a bit of run off should you get into any difficulties...

Oh btw didnt realise a 400bhp new evo was the same money as a nissan gtr... i know which id rather have out of the two.. :)

Still unsure how you drove but my gearbox is perfectly fine. I'm even on the first clutch still, and it's not like I'm hanging around.

@ Mega: if I got to choose, I'd never get a GT-R. It's just a big GT that weighs WAY too much. Get an AMG if you want such car.

your the first person that said they would turn down a GTR... but compared to AMG league of there own

power and performance or luxury depends on what you go for
you dont get the GTR for it to be comfortable. you want some fun!

ive not really had a lot of time to think about what if i have 50k to spend on a car as chances of that happening anytime soon are pretty slim but im sure there are plenty of porsche/amg style cars out there for similar money - the gtr just seems to have the rep as being a cheap porsche eater from the tv reviews :)

I'm amazed how common they are. Two live on our street and we see at least 3 others fairly regularly knocking around the local area.

Now you are just being silly...

How was you summer vacation in Rhyl? 10pence to the RNLI fund on the promenade followed by a bag of sloppy greasy fries and a pink Mr Whippy Stavros special?

Class act. Your poor wife!

Oh, anything can look good on tv.

What you want to do is go on pistonheads and find our how "reliable" they are in reality

TBH you wont get a GTR for 50k, nearer 60 with a decent spec and ill be honest i wouldnt spend 60k on a datsun, no matter how fast it went!!

I'm with swede on the gtr, just dont really get it, sledgehammer to crack an egg approach IMO.

Clearly, each has his own requirements.

I want a sporty car for fun and all the weight and luxuries in the GTR are unnecessary. So I'll prefer a lighter Evo. Some here use their car as a daily driver and hence want the combination of usability and speed.

Somebody else will argue that he doesn't need the 5 seats, the boot and the 4WD of an Evo or a Scoob and that a Lotus Elise or Exige is much better from a sportiness point of view...

With such logic, we can keep going until we're at motorbikes !

Yup, but it generally ends up in "the cars the press winges most about or the boys in the street wet themselves most over" is 'best'.

Two years ago, we all needed an RS4, a year ago, you had to have an M5, now we need a GTR...

It think it looks great and probably is a great drive. It probably is one of the fastest production cars around a track also.
I just don't happen to live along a track, nor do I use one to go to work :?
