:D yeah!!

Ive pretty much decided what car(s) I want next but its good to weigh up the options and see what people offer me as possible swaps.

All the chav's seem to come out of hiding and offer me clapped out Saxo's, Civic Type R's, stupidly modified Golf's and the likes

I think not!!!

True.

Mitsi did a good bit of marketing there.

When I bought mine, I was first tempted to buy the most powerful one available direct from the dealer.

Thing was that a 360 was 7 or 8K more expensive than a 320 and dealers gave good deals on the 320's.

Hardware wise, the difference was the sportscat, the intake and the mapping. Inside the 360MR has nicer seats with more leather.

But 8K is a lot of money, and still did not guarantee that I would not have the same problem as with the Scoob in Finland, i.e. that the car could not cope with very low temperatures.

So Poesy here sent me to a dealer who used the former Ralliart WRC engine builder (unemployed since Mitsi stopped rallying) to look at the "cold" problem for me.

He suggested I buy a 320, throw an HKS intake filter in it and give it a proper map. For the exhaust, I could go sportscat or de-cat. I chose for the later (esp as the sound is really great now).

When the car came back, it costed me about 1000 quid for the mapping and since then, it's performed brilliantly. Not only does it drive much better (391bhp and 365-ish lbft), it is also way more economical than in standard guise.

It's actually up for sale in this section of the forum and there is a whole topic about it in the garage section.

I still love it to bits as it's the most focussed drivers car I can use on ice/snow and take my kid in the back.

Unfortunately, using it once a month just does not warrant keeping it.

If it is mapped for the "cold", would it need the map changing for the "warm" temperate climate of the UK?

FYI, it often gets warmer in Finland in summer than in UK. Skipped geography? Or just skipped school all together in your case, I assume

The STI Type-UK actually was never tested at temperatures below -30C. When I questioned Prodrive about the problems I had in winter (total loss of power), they said the car tried to compensate for the so called "higher air density" when temperatures dropped. Once below -30C, the temperature was off the scale however and the ECU tried to close everything down.

The Evo spent about 4 days on de dyno to get it set up. Also, the air mass filter was lost as it only supplies the engine with wrong data in these cases.
The result still is stunning as the map turned out to be really stable and the car runs much better and uses less fuel.

If you check the topic in the Garage section, you'll also notice that I did use it for quite a while in the UK myself.

Swede - all evo IXs are MRs.

The MR, Mitsubishi Racing, changes started with the VIII, circa late 2004/2005. Since then all evos have had the aluminium body panels, bilstein suspension, newer recaros, revised cams, etc.

The IX MR FQ360 by HKS was the last of the line before the X and is purely an FQ360 with some HKS bits and different wheels. Nowhere near as special as people would have you believe.

For the price I can't believe you haven't shifted this. Have you had any viewings/ feedback? Is the fact you have only had it for such a short amount of time scared people off?

It is probably just that not many people are buying at the moment.

I accept that the market is quiet for various reasons at the moment John but the price is £1.5k approx lower than they were making in the spring.

I'm no economist but if people aren't buying, the price is probably wrong. This is true in any market climate.

I haven't had one person turn up to view the car.

I had one phone call for three weeks in the trader at varying prices this being the lowest.

I have had swaps offered galore but nothing any good to be honest.

I know I havent had it long 9/10 months now but there are nowt wrong with the car trsut me....its just been serviced, new brakes, new tyres and not bad mileage bla bla bla...

Granted its price too low and in a different market I would price it £1.5k more expensive but to be honest I know it wont sell simples.....

Maybe people are put off by the short ownership however all I can say to that is come see for yourself its a geniune car and in very good condition, all the previous owners have been members on here.

I was offered one for 7k, but the guys story was strange said he'd done 2k in 2yrs! :?

dont trade it for 9k i would give you that for it. not paying over the odds for one as i gave mine away at the time i sold mine, subarus seem to a nightmare to get rid of, was talking to a breaker said he has subaru owners are in all the time at the mo, cause they can't sell them. its the cost of running them.

When the garage offers you 9k... this is so they can sell it for 10-10.5k and make a bit of profit. If it isn't selling then (no matter what anyone thinks even though it is your pride and joy) the price is probably wrong.

If the price was right and it was £1.5k too low... don't you think people would see it as a bargain and snap it up?

If it was mine i'd sell it for 9k before the prices drop even more, People forget these are cars and they will keep depreciating, In a couple of months time the dealer will be offering you 8k for it!!!
