2006 Impreza STi Spec D 400bhp 420lb/ft

Postby RobinSherwood » Wed Nov 18, 2009 1:57 pm

This well known WR1OC car is offered For Sale as it just doesn't get used as much as it should to fund more of a 'toy' in the New Year.

The UK's Best Handling Fully Road Trimmed Impreza. How do I justify that claim? This is the Spec D that at 2008 Scooby Shootout set the third fastest time in the qualifying session of the Handling Competition setting a time only 0.7 of a second slower than Olly Clarke in the Roger Clarke Motorsport Gobstopper (which is a £250,000 purpose built competition Impreza). The car then went on to finish 3rd in the Handling Competition Final. It is the only fully trimmed Impreza ever to qualify for the Final of this competition and ran complete with full leather interior, extra sound proofing and even the spare wheel still in place!

The car was featured in the Winter 2008 Total Impreza magazine and the new owner will be given a set of professional photographs on CD that were taken at a photo shoot for Japanese Performance magazine. (The article was never published as the magazine closed before publication).

If the new owner wishes to do a track day with the car after purchase, the driver (an ARDS Licensed Race Instructor) who drove the car at Scooby Shootout will (subject to agreeing a mutually convenient date) help the new owner get the best out of the car, all you need to do is pay his travel and buy him lunch.

The cars performance is achieved with the following modifications;

Twin-Scroll Turbo (JDM type)
Equal-length Polished/Ported Headers
De-cat downpipe (twin-scroll type)
Janspeed De-cat Centre Section
Milltek rear exhaust
1.3 Bar Wastegate Actuator
High Pressure Fuel Pump
Re-map by Bob Rawle
Braided Brake Hoses and Competition Fluid
AST Adjustable Suspension

This is an incredibly driveable car to the extent a friend who has owned a Type 25 is of the opinion that this car is more driveable.

The car took part in the McRae Gathering and still bears the McRae Gathering sticker on the bonnet which can be removed if the new owner wishes.

Standard Spec is as follows:

Crystal Grey Metallic Paint
2.5 litre STi engine
6-speed STi Gearbox with A-DCCD and Yaw Control
STi Brembo Brakes Front and Rear
HID Xenon Headlights and Washers
Front Foglights
Full Black Leather Interior
Pioneer MP3/CD/DAB Ready Headunit with iPod Output
Bluetooth Handsfree
Smartnav Satellite Navigation with Tracker and Speedsafe
Extra sound proofing

Additional Options Fitted:

Prodrive PPF7 18" Alloy Wheels in Bright Flitter finish
Prodrive High Level Rear Spoiler
STi Front Splitter
Prodrive Mudflaps
Prodrive Aluminum Gear Knob (original leather one will come with car)
Prodrive Battery Clamp
Prodrive Oil Filler cap
STi Fog Light Covers (The original covers also come with the car to enable the use of the fog lights when required)

The registration number S9EKD is included in the asking price.

The car will come with 12 months MOT

Mileage 27,500

Asking Price £19,500

Beautiful car. Good luck with the sale, Robin.

I'll pre-empt a question: mileage ??

Just spotted this! Blimey, Robin. You must be gutted to be selling this

I've been lucky enough to own and drive a lot of very nice Impreza's, including the Series 2 Type 25 mentioned above. I've driven Robin's car too, and I can vouch for the fact that it is by far the best scoob I've ever driven. It makes the Type 25 feel nervous, less sure-footed, and more difficult to extract the best from it - and that's with the Type 25 having AST's too!

Power delivery from Robin's car is eye-wateringly good. It's the smoothest delivery of any Subaru I've ever been in, and the best bit is that it's faultless, repeatable, and utterly reliable. That's a rare thing in what is a light touch mod on what is already a keenly-priced supercar 8)

The Type 25 might have been a tiny bit more powerful but you could never use it. With this car you really can have a grin from every moment in the driver's seat, whether tootling to Tesco, or thrashing to Thurso.

I bloody wish I had the cash and I'd buy it! And that's after saying I wouldn't go back to Subarus after losing so much money on my WR1 and Type 25.

Good luck with the sale, Robin. Your ad is really good and you're right. It is the best handling Subaru out there :thumb:

I'm currently wondering if you boys are on drugs... blindly in love... or just out of touch with the car market?

Whilst I do not doubt that Robin's car is set-up really well, the asking price is way off the mark. Do a national search on Autotrader. A friend of mine recently sold his 56 plate Spec D with less miles and very similar levels of modifications for £13500. Whilst I think this is low, it is closer to the market trend at the moment that your specified price.

Hi Bro,

The fact it is a Spec D is to some extent irrelevant as it so far from the 'D'iscrete definition of the original car.

Whilst the asking price is strong it reflects a number of things. It is not so much the level of mods that is the issue but the end result, it is incredibly hard to modify a car and end up with something that ends up as 'right' as this car feels.

It is also common for cars that have performed well in competitions and been magazine featured etc.,.. to attract a premium price.

Finally the car is being offered for sale with the registration number and a set of professionally taken photographs and all this has a value and also offering the new owner a days driver training.

But we will see what reaction I get to the sale and take things from there.

Kind regards,

Robin

Forgive me asking this naive question, I was trying to work out what it is, but what is the registration number supposed to "spell or say"??

Phonetically Spec D I suppose it would help if I chose to space it very illegally ie S9EK D but aside from that I prefer short number plates especially on the curved front bumper of the hawkeye.

As those that have met me know I have a bit of a thing for number plates
