breaking old WR1

Postby oldlegacy » Mon Sep 28, 2009 2:34 pm

Last year the owner of a company i often work for decided to have a little off in his old wr1.. he managed to annihilate every panel apart form the boot lid.

He bought the car back with the idea of racing it. unfortunately hes not a mechanic and the cost of putting it back on the road would have made this idea not cost effective. So he asked me and a chum to take the remaining good bits off it.

So the bits ups for grabs are,....

Full engine inc turbo injectors etc,.. will break if bits are wanted...

Gearbox

full Loom.

Full interior

Breaks. they will require a full rebuild

sti red legs

pro drive exhaust.

Lots of sensors.

sensible offers if anyone wants anything, please ask if you want to see pics

As for prices perhaps you guys could help with that.

I'm a celica fella. I can tell you everything about 3sgte's and price them down to the main cap bolts, but i really don't know anything about these Subaru's.

I've got the engine on ebay but thought it would be better to stick a post up on the club just in case bits are needed to keep these cars on the road. We are aware the car isn't old like my st165 and so bits of trim looms etc aren't necessarily going to be needed. in fact the most valuable bits, the body panels, are no good. but we have the rest.

Now unfortunately the guy was ripped off buy the insurance company and paid 7 grand to buy the car back even though it really wasn't worth it. I think his love affair with the car got the better of him. So he would like to make at least some of that money back.

I believe the engine should fetch around 1500, but would it be better to strip it and sell the components???

The gearbox is good and isn't grinding into 4th unlike his replacement car, he has wanted us to swap the gearboxes over for him but i think he just has to learn to drive properly and perhaps use a heavier gear oil like the skyline and supra boys use??? perhaps anyone has any advice?

full interior ???

please help as its difficult to find the prices as its a relatively rare car.

The bits have been taken to his unit in Greenford just off the A40

I'm sorry they were totaled. The one that was salvaged from the crash site happened to the the one that was missing from Robins replacement car...

Just to re state.. The car had an off wales and in so doing took out every panel apart from the boot lid.

If anyone can help me on this one, but why do people on ebay keep asking for the gear knob and Plaque ??

Thats how the bits came off the car. No point in being disshonist here.

No actually we jumped up and down on them with muddy boots...

We were carefull when we took the bits off. they just need a clean.

Breaks on the otherhand will need a complete refurb and helicoild.

Although I feel sorry for the guy who may have lost a lot of money on his pride and joy, I can't see too many of these parts getting sold for decent money having been in a high impact smash I certainly would't buy anything "mechanical" due to the unknown stresses it has been subjected to!!

Fair play, door cards, seats and the like are different and a bit of tidying up will be fine but drivetrain, gearbox, brakes etc no way!!

At least you've been decently honest with the photos though mate. :thumb:
