The only common fault with the WR1/STI is the rear shocks most have had them changed during warranty some even twice.

Few have had pulley bearings go.

Recall on the turbo hose If my memory is correct

DCCD control is best left in auto mode while doing normal driving, play about with it by all means but on slow turning manouvers it bangs off as if the diff/drive shaft is broke, but this is normal.

Crap stereo system

Other than that fantastic car

Oh and the crap fuel economy

cheers guys thanks for the warm welcome.

I agree with the crap stereo, it's terrible but hey ho. As for the shocks and pullys i'll keep and eye them and the fuel economy i also agree with but then tha'ts all relative.

MY498 - I am indeed from Stoke on Trent, where in stoke are you? i have seen a WR1 around Cheadle which was my inspiration for the purchase!

One other thing, on the paint work, what is colour match like as std? i'm currently assuming mines recieved some paint to a few bits you see as the match is poor for lay down in certain areas.

Olly, I,m in Endon where are you. I have seen a WR1 in Leek and I think the car you are referring to in Cheadle belongs to a teacher at the local high school? If you need anything doing to your car I'll let you have the number for Adam at Autotecnica in Buxton who is an independent Subaru specialist, some of the other owners on here (Scooby Dan & WR1Bro) introduced me to him and he is the best Subaru specialist around and his prices are spot on.

Cheers matey,
i'm in Cheadle but work away in warwickshire during the week and my mrs lives near Burton so i'm all over the place. Off to Le Mans tomorrow as well with work so that'll be a good run out for the WR1.
The one i'm refering to in Cheadle is the head of one of the primary schools locally yes i might well take you up on your offer for the specialist although i do tend to do alot of work on my cars myself. IF you want a job doing and all that.
i'm sure i'll see you about at some point!
