hi everyone, i am not exactly a wr1 owner. i just bought this engine from a salvage wr1 and will be putting it in my my01 1.6lt. i will be asking you a bucket load of questions very soon, just waiting for the delivery of the engine.
regards
matt :D

i bought the inlet manifold and the injectors with the fuel rails before hand. and after doing some asking around i decided to buy the engine (take a chance) and go for it. the car had fmic (which is folded in half now) and the turbo and the exhaust was already sold. by the way the injectors were not the usual pink sti ones, they are violet coloured. someone said they look very much like sard 800cc ones. what does the wr1 originally come with? anyway so in all i bought the:

engine
wiring loom
fuel pump
ecu
and the brake servo
750 pounds

i had previusly bought:

wr1 radiator (pure coincidence)
complete rear assembly from a my02 sti inc.
rear diff
propshaft
4 drive shafts
hubs
already wearing the fr/rr brembos on the car.(had drums before)
and
my04 sti suspention with tein springs with strut mounts.
another 800ish

eventually want to get an md321t or h. don't know which is best for me yet. i heard that they work miracles on built ej20 engines.

Welcome to the club, Matt  It certainly sounds like you've got a very interesting project ahead of you. I'm sure you'll get lots of help and do keep us informed how you get on.

i know some of you guys are thinking ''what's the point in doing all this work to a 1.6, just buy an sti'' but the problem issecond hand car prices are too high in greece. any half decent newage sti will not go for less than 30.000 euros here, that is about 21000 pounds (new 50.000 euros). and for an sti swap you are looking at 14.000 ish. so cheaper parts from england and cheap labour in greece hopefully will do it for me. as i am on a budget.

Sounds like the engine is "far from standard" if it has FMIC and larger injectors...what turbo is on it?

also has RCM bits too, so could have other nice bits that we cant see, and likely to have been all carried out with top quality workmanship 8)

unfortunatly the turbo was gone before i saw it :( . but i am planning to go for an md321t or h. don't know which will suit me best yet.

dan, i am hoping for that too. i know i took a big gamble with this. just can't wait to strip the engine and see what is inside.
