Hi guys,

#292 has left the island and now is going to explore the Autobahn and Nürburgring region... :D

It'll be the new compagnion of my Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo which is at the moment in a full rebuild and should be ready in summer.

Going to post some pics after the Scooby's TÜV & registration - will take some time and prep though.

Cheers to all for the help & advice

Micha

Way cool - how do you find the WR1 in comparison to the EVO?

If you are close to the Ring you should join up with this lot - I'm toying with the idea of going:

Ian from SouthEastScoobies allready got in contact with me - we'll meet up at that weekend. :D

The Delta Evo is quite different - engine is more like the 2.5ltr Scoobies due to the long stroke and the supension / handling demands a lot more knowledge / experience (never brake or let off the gas pedal in a fast corner - it will spin you out). Steering feel is far better with the Deltas (very "Porsche GT3-like") and they understeer less under power if you've got an 16v Evo - and it feels a lot more compact too. Rattles and squieks all the time but that's character...

Cheers!

Okay - end of May the WR1 get´s a prep for a remap - going to drive to the Netherlands:

http://ems-tuning.nl/

Rather famous in the western part of Germany - this will be a first "meet & greet" to evalute the Scooby and it´s setup.
Awaiting a quote and opinion whether the WR1 needs a final remap (as AS Performance suggested).

Keep you updated & C U soon at the Nürburgring

Hi Guys,

small update on the WR1 as we are prepping it to get it´s full potential out of it... :D

After installing a heat-shield for the turbo to protect the intercooler and changing the turbo hoses for a Samco kit I started
to build a new air deflector (the part that runs the air from the scoop into the intercooler.

As a big Perrin topmount is installed it looked like this with the factory seal:

Image

If you look closely you can see the "scratches" of the factory seal on the surface of the IC so two rows on each side plus 3cm on top pf the IC weren´t in the airflow plus there was no sealing on the lower part at all.

After a whole day of measuring, cutting, fitting, measuring, cutting, fitting,... etc. it ended up like this:

Looks fairly strange and a little bit skew (as the IC has quite some angle regarding it's mounting points and is a bit "off" compared to the scoop) but it works rather nicely and seals perfect.
And don't mind the gaffer tape - it covers the various holes from the factory seal plugs.

We also reprogrammed the APEXI and next week it´s off to get a remap.

Keep you updated

Micha :)

Hi Guys,

got the WR1 checked and remapped by the well known Subaru workshop EMS Tuning in the Netherlands - as always they detected a faulty Neutral Switch so the Intake Cam Actuator did not work...

Sorted that out and after the mapping plus APEXI "wizardry" :D it made 450bhp at 6800rpm plus 480NM at 5500rpm.
The big turbo flaws the spool-up and the total amount of torque (the real power starts at 4500rpm) but it races towards the redline and the torque stays nearly level up until 7500rpm.

Cheers

Micha

Wow big figures - is that on standard internals?

@WR1

Can't say really as the car has been soooo many times at different tuners in the UK since 2013 - the ECU itself has been remapped 98 times (the info can be found in the ECU) !!!

But when it left the island it already made 418bhp and the APEXI wasn't really used in a proper way, the IC airduct was crappy and the IC hoses were junk...

good to see its more sorted
not sure why it had been set-up in that format possibly simply limited knowledge??
IMO would have been far better with a 3port installed and mapped to move the boost control back onto the ECU - but we had limited time and at the owners request the car was made "safe" as opposed to its previous state
