Newbie after advice on buying a WR1. Overpriced?

Hi guys. I have always wanted a WR1 and the performance car company has 2 of them. I have HPI checked both cars and they both have 3 owners all clear.
Has anyone dealt with these guys before? Do you think they are fairly priced? http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... le/2950887

Concerned they have been on ebay pistonheads and the Auto Trader for a while.

Can't wait to get one all ready for winter! All feedback is appreciated.

Cheers
Jamie

I bought my Wr1 from Performance Car approx a year and a half ago......the previous owner did too. I was pleased with the service they provided and No. 62 has been great. Apart from a couple of starting problems that was due to infrequent use, (weekend car!), soon fixed with a trickle charge battery, the car has been superb. They tend to ask top dollar but they do select only the best examples, all tend to have full service history too which is important. As it happens, I am thinking, (reluctantly I might add), of selling mine if the right offer were to come along. I am open to discuss if you are interested.
I can well understand if you want to go through a trader for security, but to be honest you will pay for it.
Get back to me if you want to follow up.....if not, no problem.....as I say, Performance Car are ok.

The 57K one was mine (i think) had it for 6 years. They seemed like a nice outfit, very good to deal with, no hassle selling to them. Only been on their site a few weeks.
I dont think for a garage that they are particularly over priced as my mate bought a 32K one for over 14K recently, they are going up in price. Obviously asking a bit more than I sold it for but it did need a few things doing that they would have had to fork out for......Dont think it mentions in the add but if it is my car it has a Blitz Nur Spec exhaust, fitted with a baffle. (unless they changed it?)

PS I still miss my Blue Meenie :crying:

I bought my 1st wr1 from pcc too, they are nice enough guys and have nice stock, I had an issue with a gearbox casing cracked a few weeks after buying mine and they stumped up half the money for replacement instead of me driving the 260 mile round trip again to take it back for them to do the warrenty work, fair enough to me

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Very reassuring about the prices as they do seem to be increasing fairly quickly Thanks again.

NJ04ZWK is the registration for the 57k one.

As previous posts the value is going up. The price you are going to pay, the car needs to be perfect condition in every respect. Theres no point paying a premium price then having to replace tyres, brakes, suspension, refurbing wheels, paintwork, changing cam belts etc..... If any work needs doing knock off the asking price or walk away

For example the cost to replace

Tyres £600
Front and rear struts £500 parts only
Alignment £90
Brake pads £220
Brake discs £400

Brill. Many thanks for that. I have seen on here to look out for the rear struts. Is there anything else that is important? I have asked regarding service history and both have full but a mixture of dealer/specialist/independent. Every 4500 miles I believe should be a full service history?

I have owned a few performance cars, Evo vi, 2 M3's but this is my first scoob.

Good advice, I'm sure they will be expecting you to 'Do a Brewer' on them  esp if you find something not up to scratch.

I wouldnt count the M3 as performance car, trust me when you drive the WR......I have taken two M3's and both drivers were fuckin stunned  how quick i pissed off into the distance   to say the M3 has 415hp :shake:

Anyway back to the subject, if your going to pay premium price you want a premium car simples.....

Where are you located? come and view mine first to get an idea what a £13000 grand car should look like to give you some idea when searching.

the 52k one is 352 i think.
i bought it a few months ago from derek slack subaru in middlesboriugh unseen.
was 9.5k
but when i got there car was not as described so got a refund.
not a bad car at price but i wanted one better than mine and lower miles .
was told just a couple of stone chips on bonnet and bumper as expected on a 10 year old car.
when i get there bumper was covered in stone chips and had a previous badly done repair on passenger side of bumper where it meets wing.
the wing was also showing some rust spots.
the 2 main stonechips on bonnet were about 50p size and touched up.
but what put me off was a large scab on roof just above windscreen on drivers side where some butcher had changed screen and damaged paint.
to do right would have meant screen out and roof spraying.
rest of car was mint tho , didnt drive it so cant comment on that,
was also told cambelt had just been done at last service , but it was quite a few years ago in reality.and i think an mot was missing.
paintwork should have been done now but at least you know where to look now! :D
all in all mine has a few more miles on at 75k but after looking at a few now realise mine is nearly as good as they get .so walked away.
the dealer had about 4 people wanting to buy over phone if i didnt take so wasnt bothered.
the guy who bought it had it advertised on here last month at £10800 i think. dont know if he had paint addressed,

I wouldn't worry about mileage too much as long as it has been regularly serviced. Low mileage cars have clearly been sitting around..... Cars are mechanical devices and hence need to be driven.....needless to say....driven sensibly and looked after.......one woman owner......not for me! :D

I have w1 krb old car, it's bloody lovely I know that came from pcc.
43000 miles and a very nice car for its age.
I have had it up for sale a couple of times but couldn't go through with it in the end.
I might listen to an offer and it wouldn't take as much as they are asking for that car on the link.

As for the M3, coming out of a 400bhp Evo VI into an M3, yes it wasn't as quick. However it was a great distance all rounder. Great equipment levels too and a very nice drive. Great driving position and no lag. I loved it but with a 20 week old daughter, couldn't get her seat in the back very easily and its a bit scary in the wet....let alone the ice! i didn't want another evo as I want another great all round car that looks good, powerful and reliable (to an extent). Always wanted a WR1. The only scoob I would have.

Lol not counting an m3 as a performance car..
I have had lots of fast cars and still do I could go quicker in my wr1 or rb320 on a B road than I can in my m3 but it will eat a Subaru on certain roads driven properly.
A wr1 driven right on a uk b road will keep up with a GTR.. The GTR will disappear when the roads open.
But I agree the m3 is a death trap in the wet and useless in the winter..
Depends what you want her for!
