After looking at three wr1's previously, I finally found the one(96) which I bought from a very sound and honest guy, Dave, who I met at cardiff airport on 4/01/14. The car is in mint condition and a credit to it's former owners, the only things that need doing to make it perfect would be a wheel refurb although they are still in pretty good shape and there is a very slight bubble in the paint(barely noticeable) at the bottom of the drivers side wing, which I'll be getting sorted as soon as I find a good body shop. I owned a turbo 2000 previously and thought that was quick but the wr1 is like a lunatic when you put the foot down, defo worth the 1200 mile round trip and the £180 of v-power to get her back up the road to the north east of scotland :D Some pictures of the beastie

Thanks for the warm welcome, this maybe a stupid question but while looking at the service receipts for my car I noticed that there have been a few different grades of engine oil used 10w/40, 10w/60 and 5w/40. Can anyone shed some light on why this may have been done and what oil should be used? Any info would be appreciated as the car is due an oil change. Also is it worth putting an STI oil filter on or is a standard subaru oil filter ok? Not bothered about saving a few quid just want what's best for the car, cheers

Mines just had a service @ surrey subaru specialist (independant not Subaru). He recommended 10/60 as and the pink STI filter. There's quite a few opinions on oils, mine was on silkolene but now on vavoline vr1 and the oil temps are much better for some reason. Millers also seems to be a firm fav with most.

Cheers for the info WR1, thought i would ask the question as i found it a bit strange that different grades of oil had been used. It has mainly been 10/60 that has been used so i will stick with that and probably go with the sti filter.

Cheers Dave. Loving the car was definitely worth the wait to find the right one. The boot seal you supplied has been fitted and the car has been on my mates ramp and had a good going over so all is well. As i was telling you my friends son works for a local body shop and he reckons repairing the area at the bottom of the wing shouldn't be to much of an issue so that will be the next job to be done.
