Let down 056 not what it was made out to be

Postby SUBDJ » Sun Feb 06, 2011 4:53 pm

Hi all
Thanks for the replys on the help into the history on 056.Well went to view it today travelled just over 150 miles one way 3 hr trip (Manchester).Sat nav spot on right to the door no sign of car.Rung moible number two/three times no answer rung door bell lady answer ask if her son was selling car she had no idea.Told her blue subaru still no idea.So i left thought oh Sh-t rung number again as i walk back to car. Then this guy call me from the bedroom window of the same house. He came out said he would go and fecth car.Leaveing me the info, this guy is gone for about 10 mins.then returns with car.Well the car to me at first looks million dollars had a good look around .
.car had G3 every where in the door jams under the bonnet underthe boot lid.
.Nasty rust stain on frt bumper has if it's been driped on for a while .
.Few marks and dent to nsfrt door.
.Drivers seat well worn and very drity shine to it (only 33.000 miler)
.Looked in the boot and lifted the mat spare wheel well water all over the wheel and well.moved rear carpet covering back panel and there was this mess of sealer about 2 to 3 in wide ,whwich had been sparyed over.poped my head under bumper where you could see where somebody had a go of bumping out rear panel.
Things that didnt add up
mum not knowing about car.
car not in his name
having to go and get car.
mileage and seat
car had only done 4000 miles since Aug 2008.
shunt in the rear end.
To say i was dissapointed fulls very short so the quest goes on to fined me one.
Also i found that this guy was just punting it on he had no love for this car and new nothing about it,he was'nt proud of it.
Sorry post is so long( needed to tell someone
BUT MY ADVICE ON 056 IS TO LEAVE WELL ALONE!!!!!!

What sort of mileage are you looking for and what are you looking to pay? On the basis of how you described number 056 he shouldn't have been asking much more than £8.5k?

If I was buying one this would be it:

forum/viewtopic.php?t=12383

Fully documented, very clean and low mileage plus a good price to boot!

I agree No 181 looks like mint but also numbers 043 and 143 are for sale cheaper but with higher mileage.

I think you're selling it too cheap that's why nobodys nibbling at it. There were quite a few much cheaper than what I paid for mine, but I didn't really look at them. The one I got in the end was well worth the money over the others...

Thanks for defendning me mate.... I do keep getting dissed for the price and yet what is funny is I had very little interest at all when the price was £10500 or even £11000 or £11500 - too many are priced at this price so way too much competition.

What's a man to do ?? I cant win either way

being a West Mids guy, I wondered if you'd like to let two companies I know that your WR1 is on the market.
TWO independant subaru specialists may well have customers who are on the lookout for a car as good as yours.

I suggest you ring Daz at Central Subaru and also Sha at Pole Position. Both are in Willenhall. Nr. W-ton. Look them up on tinternet. Please feel free to mention my name.

I paid a fair price for the car I got in the condition it was in. It was also still under extended warranty. I'm happy with it and that's all that matters.

It was mapped at 0.9 bar to be on the safe side seeing has it a s/hand unit, so will do a few miles to test it, then back for remap, should see over 400 !
Also re-paint the front/rear bumper, and talk to Spence about the other cosmetic damage I have since found OSR door and boot when I cleaned it !

Thats if he returns my phone call !

Interesting comparison :D
makes petrol look cheap, but I must admit I like not having to fill up again after only 200 miles.
