Checking in to say hi, i'm looking at an apparent mint WR1 on Saturday so might be around more regular if its as good as its supposed to be!

I'm carless after selling my Cooper S back to a main dealer, not had a Scooby or any 4 wheel drive car before but had a Z4M, VXR8 and alot of hot hatches (Focus RS mk1, Focus ST2, Astra VXR Nurburgring and more).

Welcome to the site. Good luck on Saturday- why not post a link to the advert (if it is on the Internet) - Members here might be able to tell you something about the car.

Yea i'm aware of that, to be fair prices were a bit lower then on the 2nd hand market which i know from personal experience when i bought a Z4M and traded it in 4 months later making £1k, the VXR8 i bought was at rock bottom prices (1/3 off list) and going in with cash wouldnt get you anything off as i asked for a cash price to start with and nobody would budge!
Its in the ball park price wise for the alledged condition and low mileage.

Hmm ran a HPI on it and i knew it was reg in NI first off but its saying its still a NI car and that the previous owner (2nd owner it looks like going off that other thread) has had it since April 2008 with 1 previous owner. It should be 2 previous owners and the current guy has had it since May or June 2009! Its like it hasnt been registered on mainland GB but the chap selling it said he had done this. :?

I wouldn't panic too much at the moment- some people take HPI data as Gospel but it is subject to errors like everything in life. In fact I think two previous cars I bought had some discepancies when I checked with HPI- with a bit of further research I found their data was out of date and they swiftly corrected it.

Things like registered keepers are easily checked- just ask to see the log sheet when you view the car and take down the relevant issue number etc so you can double check with DVLA.

Other than that if the car is as good as he claims has FSH etc no obvious mechanical problems it all comes down to agreeing a price!

Spoke to previous owner and has assured me its pukka and spoke to HPI and they are looking into it with the DVLA.
I know its likely not been updated properly as i've had problems with mileage on a previosu car which was down to HPI screwing up!

Go get it Duckson :!:

It sounds really good- great condition. You might have to wait an awful long time to find one in as good condition/low mileage.

Duckson she looks amazing mate. I have recently purchased a WR1 after owning alot of performance cars in the past and i love it to bits they are amazing to drive and turn heads everywhere. As for the DVLA issues i would double check it all to be sure but dont worry too much. The company i used to work for imported alot of cars from N/Ireland and used to see DVLA cock ups all the time. Good example is a 1999 Fiesta which when you HPI it comes up as a 2005 model (2005 was the import year not reg year) Anyway mate i would say grab it with both hands you will not be disappointed. Ray :D :D :D

Good news, Greenlight gave me a good quote of £820 / £500 excess and no requirement for a tracker. :)
Considering i was paying the same price for an 09 Cooper S with JCW bodykit and wheels (dealer fitted options) thats an epic quote.

(i'm 34, no claims or points but a 6 week SP30 driving ban, 9yrs NCB plus my 30yr old wife with a clean licence/no claims).

Are you going to tell all about the 6 week ban?

Aye i will try KM and of course i told them about the ban!!!!
I go into every detail with insurance, no point paying them hundreds of quid if they end up invalidating your insurance in the event of a claim because you havent declared something and which in theory could leave you consequently in the doodoo with the law for driving without valid insurance.

Be persistent with getting hold of Gary Moulson at KM. He is very busy but always sorts me the best price.

Ref your ban - I was hoping you were going to tell us about it... I wasn't enquiring as to your relationship with insurance companies.

Sorry my fault for misreading it!
93 in a 50 dual carriageway, early morning, straight road, no traffic in front, no junctions/exits onto the straight stretch (fields either side) and got speed gunned. Damn. I was in my new VXR8 at the time, 1000 miles on clock so put foot down.

I got done doing 96 average (was over 130 at one point) racing a bike in my WR1. Fast as fook  On twisties too, none of this long straight stuff (if I wanted to do long straights, I'd just buy an MBarge)

What did you get mate?

I'm not bothering with #225 now, the hunt goes on, there is an 18800 mile WR1 on Auto Trader but its 210 miles away from me in North West England (no idea where) that i might phone about.
I am also looking at "normal" STI PPP's.

Got an SP30 which I can only put down to a fook-up at the cop shop when I sent my license off... I was expecting a worse code and fine but I can only put it down to either a cock up or the fact that it was an average and not peak speed?! It was on the back roads so it was an unmarked scooby timing between the 1/4mile squares in the road... it took him over 3 miles just to catch me

SP30 code is correct for a speeding offence on a non-motorway. If it was on a m-way it would be a SP50, also if you had been done for dangerous driving (alot of speeding cases in Scotland are going this way so beware) then it would of been a different (worse to insurers) code.

Mine is an SP30 ban, you cant get points and a ban for a single offence.

Didn't realise that but thanks for the information!!

I won't be speeding anymore in my shitbox.... the only thing I'll get done for is pollution
