Proud owner of 128 saying hello

Postby cliff » Tue Feb 16, 2010 11:06 pm

Just thought I'd say Hi,

I purchased no 128 on 30th Jan and been enjoying every minute of it since then. The car is abosolutely immaculate with only 11k miles on the clock. I have a big grin on my face everytime I get in the car!
The car replaces my old RX8 and the difference in performance is a revelation. The RX is a great looking car and handled like a dream but it lacked any character and did not have enough punch. The WR1 is a beast of a car, has phenomenal grip and when you push the throttle it just keeps on going. I previously had a 54 plate WRX SL a couple of years ago with the 2005 restyled interior and I think the WR1 with the older style interior seems to have a much better build qualty. I also found the ride in the WRX much harsher - or is it that love of my new toy has blinded me!!

I bought the car in Aberdeen and drove it back to kent in one hit. The only down side so far is that in driving back we were hit by a lump of debris kicked up from road works on the M6 that smashed the windscreen. I suppose I should look on the bright side as it could a much more epensive fix if it damaged the bodywork!

Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy the 1.

Hmm the one at the end of my folks street has vanished, I wonder if it's yours?

Did you get it in a private sale and does your car have an X in the reg?

Welcome Cliff,

Funny enough I am doing exactly the same as you, except I didn't like the handeling of the RX8, mind you when I had it first it did have the crap RE040's on, had a front tyre change told mazda to put the RE050's on, and a couple of weeks later i relised they had put RE040's back on, so only had the car a couple of months with RE050's on and I have to admit it was a massive difference, so maybe I haven't had chance to properly drive it with decent tyres on.

anyway welcome again,
WR1 all the way!!

Having said that, I have to say that the RX8 is the worst car I've ever driven in the snow or ice. I live on a hill and if there is any sort of ice it just wont budge of the drive even with the TC fully off the wheels just wont get any traction. Good thing the wife has a landcruiser!

Thanks for all the welcomes

Welcome Cliff.

WARNING WARNING WARNING

New owners should be made aware of a serious risk of damage to ones neck

caused by looking back over your shoulder TOO QUICKLY, having parked it up. This often happens on ones drive so not far to struggle on for assistance.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.....
