Yes, a girl has invaded your forum

Postby kate3sr » Fri Aug 14, 2009 11:11 pm

Hey guys
Have already slapped a post in the register for my beloved No.43, but I guess I'd better post here as well. Big hello to all, don't be worried 'bout offending me seeing as I'm an aircraft engineer and used to be one woman on a night shift of 200-odd peeps.... I'm used to blokes! Really looking forward to getting to know y'all 8)

That would be extremely cool, seeing as I love 1) my job and 2) archaeology. I am truly lucky, given that I have an excellent job and I'm cleared to fly military aircraft (just Hawk so far). Nothing compares to that acceleration down the runway :D

F15 Eagle and F18 Hornet are my favourite warplanes,I have seen the Lockheed SR71 aka the BLACKBIRD fly a few times at airshows and that was amazing.
Heaven can wait....I'm playing with my scooby.

The Blackbird must be some sight! I fancy going to the leuchers air show in September, going to be a Typhoon flying and also a Vulcan Bomber!
I went here when I was in Florida, what a collection!

Hey Bono!

Didn't know you were into your planes, could've chatted for hours more at the NE show!

Have to give you a shout when I'm stuck in ABZ next with the BP Offshore rescue machine - if SAR 'helos' aren't too boring for you!!

Used to watch the USAF Blackbirds down in East Anglia when I were a lad - very impressive.

And a big WELCOME to you too kate3sr

Are you in the 'mob' or working for a living?

Dont know that much on the helicopter front what type is the SAR chopper?
The only chopper I have ever been on was a Sikorsky S61 ( i think  ) on a pleasure flight from Dyce  when they used them for the rigs.

It's a search and rescue 'Super Puma' variant Bono purchased to support BPs' offshore rescue Jigsaw project - been running since 2006. Similar to the ones that 'hump and dump' to the rigs - but with lots of extra rescue kit.

And of course it comes in gloss black with yellow racing stripes... 8)

I used to fly RAF rescue Sea Kings (practically S61s) for many years - so could 'wax lyrical' about military stuff for hours, and hours...........

Sounds like quite a machine! What a cool job you have, never knew you were a flyboy, you will have to work on your handlebar moustache old bean
Good job we never got onto the subject of aircraft at the AECC as that would have been me for the rest of the day. :D
By the way ever read Chickenhawk, great book about a Huey pilot in Vietnam worth a read esp if you are into choppers!

cheers guys... I do love my '1 very much - how did I manage all these years without?
Answer to the earlier question - I'm civvy, so I get to 'work' for my money (after a fashion). A lot of it is very boring... but the good bits make up for that :D
