New to the fold

Postby Poncho » Fri Mar 06, 2009 12:13 pm

Hi all, currently agreed a deal for a WR1 that should be sorted mid next week hopefully.

I currently drive a P1 which ive owned for 3 good years, such a hard hard decision but fancy a change and have decided the WR1 is what im after.

A quick question if i may, where do you find the issue number of the car? is in the same position of that on the P1?

anyway once i get the car i shall endeavour to put a few piccies up of it and try to be as arty as Scutch....

Regards

Ponch (marc)

Welcome Poncho :)

The build number is engraved on the tax disc holder if the car still has it, otherwise it's in the service booklet as a certificate of the PPP.

Don't worry, the WR1 will make you happy! :D

I'm just looking forward to finishing work and driving home in my WR1 :P

Do you have the reg number? Slight chance I might be able to find the build number, so you can see if there anything posted on here like WR1Bro said.

Thanks for the warm welcome lads and ladies (if there are any?) Im midlands based picking the car up from bradford monday hopefully. Ive got the car at adecent price as its on V car. Was as usual put off by this fact innitially but having driven the car and thoroughly inspected it im pleased and happy to have it.

Bit of a sticky subject i think V car vehicles and like me i can imagine what opinions people must have on the subject.

Im not sure of the build number yet so cant really do any digging on the history apart from my AA check that Ive had done. The reg is NJ04 *ZR which was its re registered plate, it was previously WR04FLY if someone on here has owned it i imagine it will spring up some memories as the plate is quite recognisable.

Can any recomend a decent supplier for V LTD front lip spoilers? and mudflaps? the chap i got my prevoius mudflaps from seems to have gone under in the credit crunch :(

Anyway thanks again for the warm welcome and look forward to boring you with my shi*te jokes and pictures any time its sunny.... lol.

Is the car from Haworth Cars by any chance?

I've seen that private plate on sale on this forum, altho I can't find it now, maybe deleted by mod.

That the car discussed in this thread:

forum/viewtopic.php?t=10498&highlight=

I hope you've done your reseach and had a thorough inspection carried out.

Also the seller is claiming the build number to be 462, however this is Foley car comfirmed by VIN. Worth gettting hold of the VIN and checking with Subaru.

That was my innitial thoughts mate, i confirmed the VIN number with the AA and the report returns it as a WR1. I was very sceptical at first but on concluding my checks and driving it, it seems to be a bargain. Admittedly on V car but aslong as its been repaired to the correct standard thats all id ask :)

Don't think its any different to normal STI, I mentioned I had a WR1 when I ordered. Can't absolutely confirm as I won't get it fitted till next week.
Will do so then as the group buy runs to end March I think.

Link below in case its of use to anybody else.

When I was looking for my WR1 I went to Newcastle to view one with WR04FLY as a private plate, it was about 6-7 months ago. If I remember rightly it was on Pistonheads as a cat D repaired to a very high standard for 11K. When I got there I had to push it out of the garage and jump start it off my car, I had a walk round it and was put off by the repair to the front end that were poor (I've been a mechanic for 23 years). I have also seen the plate for sale so it may not be the same car as I can't remember the build number hope this may be a help. Good luck

Welcome to the club, If you get the odds and sods done to your satisfaction, and at not too much cost you will have a decent car and a bargain! It will be interesting to find out the build number, the reg is similiar to mine.
