Wheel Refurbishment Required

After a few years of owning the 1 I have decided to get the wheels refurbished. They are in fairly good condition but are showing signs of age with a few stone chip marks.

Can anybody recommend a good company that will do a good job and not charge the earth? I plan to remove the tyres and just supply the rims.

Its best to supply them the wheels with tyres still fitted as if the damage one of the newly referbed wheels when refitting the tyres its down to them, but if they have just the wheels and whoever refits the tyres for you damages one then its down to you, a proper refurb co will allways remove the tyres when refurbing wheels.

Thanks Ant,

I have a good friend who works for a large nationwide tyre center and has looked after all our tyre needs for the last six years and is very carful when fitting the tyres to the rims. The problem I have is if I let the refurbishment company re-fit the tyre they will use Air, I use Nitogen in the 1’s tyers.

After EVO-Mart had his done by the peeps I reccomended, I can't believe you're asking the forum for names of suppliers. Lap-tab in Brum are very well respected and Mart knows what the colour is like and the quality too.. Don't tell me that he hasn't been showing those wheels off to you...My god, he's only down the road from you.

The company Evo used was called, The Wheel Specialist who are based in Erdington who you recommended. I have already been onto them and they are asking silly money £60.00 per wheel and I am removing and re-fitting the tyers myself.

Yep, I have seen Evo’s wheels and they are pretty good but the coating on one has already started cracking.

I will have a shop around and see who dose what and for how much.

Had a wheel which was brought of s/net had been badly kerbed, Pristine
charged £97  but that was tyre off/on rebalance, but it was sent back because there were some slight runs in the dish, a silicon spot and some dust settlement on the back of the wheel, returned 5 days later and sent another to them which was just a paintover £74.

The other solution is to buy a new set at £220 per wheel, and even then the finish is a lot to be desired !
