Who's the sad anorak?

Postby Robocop » Mon Aug 13, 2007 8:34 pm

That'll be me. :)

After 20+ years using Autoglym polish, I finally got round to using a different brand. On seeking recommendations from the show and shine boys, I decided on trying some Blackfire products. These were all ordered from Polished Bliss and came next day (excellent service btw ).

Washed with the two bucket method using Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner. Dried with Autoglym Aqua-Dry chamois as unfortunately my new Poorboy's Waffle Weave Towel hadn’t arrived by then.

The wheels were cleaned with some mild traffic film remover that I get from work. I’ve been using it for years; It's not acid based, does a good job of removing brake dust and has never harmed any paint on any alloys or callipers.

Garaged for 48hrs awaiting all my new goodies from Polished Bliss. This allowed it to be 100% dry in the meantime.

Clayed the whole car using Meguiars Quik Clay. Then a coating of Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish using a Ultimate German Applicator Pad. Polished this off using a Poorboy's Deluxe Mega Towel.

Next up was a coat of Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection, again using a Ultimate German Applicator Pad and polished off using a Poorboy's Deluxe Mega Towel.

For the glass, I’d already used Autoglym Car Glass Polish prior to washing the car. I do like this stuff as I find does an effective job and water appears to bead off nicely. The only problem is that it’s somewhat chalky. Obviously that didn't worry me as the washing cured that problem. A quick blast over with Autoglym Fast Glass at the end and everything was hunky dory.

Finally I used Blackfire Long Lasting Tyre Gel to get a good shine on the tyres.

It's got a fair few stonechips, mostly the front bumper and the rear wheel arch extensions.

That's because I don't post close pictures on the front. Massive one right on the front of the bonnet, dented it as well. :(
