Bag your alternator, battery... Spray with engine degreaser, tickle with a brush and wash off with gentle stream of water. No need for pressure.

Dry with cloth and spray with protector.

Doesn't take long.

Wise words Bro, warm up the engine, any electrical connector cover off with kitchen foil. Degreaser applied and "tickled" I use hot water supply to my pressure washer (on low pressure) avoiding direct contact with the foil, let dry completely and finish off with Aerospace 101 (got mine from polished bliss). The results are astounding and never had a problem with the electrics. Good luck.

When you wash your engine for the first time you do feel relieved when the car then starts.

come on fella's...its a sealed metal box.

you gotta be really unlucky to actually do any damage or short anything out.

Just use common sense and take it easy over any connections and exhaust wrapping you may have on.

Always start asap and leave it to run for a bit to then evaporate any water puddles left over and get it out of the spinning bits. Then apply your protectant, sit back and enjoy.
