Invisible Touch Detailing - Porsche Boxster S

Postby InvisibleTouchDetailing » Thu Apr 28, 2011 10:49 am

Hi,

Here we have a Porsche Boxster S booked in for a stage 1 paint enhancement plus a couple of extras. This was the car on arrival

The calipers were slightly suffering with lacquer peel but this was not to be rectified on this occasion

Image

Image

It was a rather wet day outside unlike our recent weather, so i didnt take loads of photos of the wash process, but all door, boot, fuel cap and engine bay shuts were degreased with APC and fine brushes. The tyres were also cleaned with APC and wheels with Bilberry. The car was then snow foamed and washed using Shampoo Plus using the 2 bucket method

Image

It was then taken inside the garage to be clayed

After being washed outside again it was brought back inside where paint readings were taken. The rear drivers wing clearly showing a previous repair

The paint was then inspected under LED and Halogen lighting

Using the Makita rotary, 3M polishing pad and backing plate and Menzerna 106FA i set to giving some life back to the finish

Certainly not an exact science but to give you an idea how much clear was removed between the polished and unpolished sides

Continuing onto the rear wing and boot area

And the passenger wing

Moving round to the front of the car

Image

Image

Image

Once all polishing was complete the car recieved an IPA wipedown

Image

I then applied Dodo Lime Prime Lite as a glaze / pre-wax cleanser, a panel at a time

Image

The customer was after durability over looks so the first of 2 coats of Collinite 476s was applied

Image

Image

The wheels were treated to Poorboys and tyres to Endurance Gel

Image

Image

Moving onto the interior, all areas were dusted down and then hoovered

The leather was then cleaned with Gliptone Cleaner and wiped down!

Image

Image

And then with Gliptone Liquid Conditioner, giving the interior a fantastic rich leather smell

Image

All rubber door, boot and engine bay seals were treated with Bumper care and plastics with 303

At this point the car was taken outside to have a check over in natural light

I became concerned about the tyre pressures so checked them and found the front passenger to be very very low and around 47.5 psi in both the rears which seemed ridiculous but had recently been done when new tyres were fitted. These were all set accordingly and the customer advised on collection to keep an eye on the front incase it went very low again or just a one off.

Image

It was then time for the second layer of Collinite to be applied

Image

These were the final pictures, even with a light polish was a big improvement compared with its arrival

certainly a massive improvement on what rolled up originally...can't belive only a micron of paint can be that effective!!

personally I would of told them to sod off and come back with a proper car desrving of your skills - not that piece of crap shopping trolley.
