#255 Spring clean!

Postby Clark » Mon Apr 18, 2011 11:51 am

Luckily I managed to find a spare day last week to get my car spruced up for the summer after its winter hibernation :)

No full write up as normal as it wasn't dirty to begin with so I'll list the process carried out instead :thumb:

- Wheels removed, washed, tar spots removed with Tardis, IPA'd and then protected with Wolf's Nano Rim Sealant (2 coats).

- Wheel nuts polished with Swissvax Metal Polish.

- Tyres cleaned with Tardis and dressed with Swissvax Pneu.

- Coilovers protected with Swissvax Motorshine.

- Car washed with Meguiars Shampoo Plus

- Minor tar spots removed with tardis

- No need for claying or machine polishing so just a thorough IPA wipe down to remove the previous LSP.

- 2 coats of Wolf's Body Wrap applied to the paintwork (I was planning on a 3rd but the paint started to spit some out after the 2nd).

- Wolfs Nano Trim Sealant applied to the front splitter and mud flaps.

- Nanolex Premium on the glass.

- Werkstat Acrylic Jett on the window rubbers and trim.

The underside was also given a quick going over the previous weekend:

Engine bay also done with Swissvax Motorshine:

The tyre paint was off the following week, I still think it looked good but the tyre walls obviously flex a bit during spirited driving so they cracked a bit

Impressive stuff Clark, although ive never seen a pic of your car caked in it after a motorway journey in the rain. Are you sure you actually take it out on anything but perfect days ?? :)

It was parked up in the garage over the winter covered in crud as I got caught out in the rain on it's last year of 2010 - did my head in seeing it dirty everytime I went into the garage

You'll all laugh at me but I haven't ever used the screen washed or topped it up since buying the car - I NEVER use my wipers as I hate the light scratches you get from them. The glass sealant means the water flies off even at 20mph so the wipers are basically redundant

don't you lot North of the wall just rub it onto your eyes...

gets you razzed and keeps the rain out all in one application.

How do you get rid of bugs splattered on the windscreen Clark? Or do they not stick with that sealant on the windscreen?
