dead battery?

just abit of info for all you wr1 drivers (dont know if this is the same for other impreza"s). my wr1 wouldn"t start the other day so i had the AA out & they done some tests & found out that the battery is on a power sensitive charging routine where say if your battery was low & you just started the car everyday for 10mins to charge it up it wouldnt actually charge because the engines running so the ecu doesn"t see a problem there. but if you start the car as you did before everyday for 10mins with the lights on the ecu then sees more power is needed from the battery so it starts to charge.
& i did another test recently, when the car is parked up i left the lights switch off & battery went low so tried it with the switch on starts & starts first time every time.

just thought id let you know if you didnt already. specially for those of you who will be hibernating your 1 for the winter.

I sat in the car the other evening whilst Mrs Mickster went round Sainsburys.
..... Well, I say SAT but in fact I slumped and fell asleep as I listened to the trance on the Stereo.

FATAL !!!

Bloody flat battery by the time the missus tapped on the window. WAS HER FAULT........ if she hadn't taken so long, the battery would have lasted out !

(And I drive with sidelights on unless there's a cop car about... blue sidelights !!! Whoops )

nope...... I must be thick, I hadn't thought of that. We waited 40 mins for RAC to turn up then I had the idea of 'ONE more try' and it turned over just enough to start.
...yep, we did remember to ring RAC back to tell them we didn't need them.

Put the charger on for 4 hrs and same for next day. Looks like its OK now.
