What's the best clay for general use? Do they sell just the clay in big blocks or do I have to get a kit with the spray etc?

you can buy it in big tubs without the spray.
It varies in aggressiveness, so just pick the version you need.

I personally like the Megs clay. Regards the spray, you can make your own solution... water and a spot of shampoo. Granted, if you look into clay you will find all sorts of grades. For "fun" home use I think the Megs works really well and doesn't crumble and dry out like some others I have tried.

I got a clay kit from halfords for around 25 notes which included 2 x clays / microfibre cloth / detailing spray which i didnt think was bad...

The Megs Quick Clay kit is a good all rounder and the 1 I always suggest to people that havent clayed before

Bit big for enthusiast use - you'd actually be better off buying the quick clay kit again as it's cheaper and you get detailer spray with it
