Cleaning underneath a WR1.

I would like to totally clean the underneath of my WR1 - then apply some kind of sealant to protect it. I live near the coast and salt on the roads is a problem.

I do not have access to a ramp or pit. Is it possible to do this? If so, what's the best way?

Get somebody else to do it !

Seriously, without access to a ramp or pit you would really struggle to do this properly. Try and find a local specialist who can do the job properly, I was gobsmacked to learn that Adam at Autotecnica carries out this type of work for a fraction of main dealer price

My car is having some bushes replaced over the weekend. Adam recently did a splendid job with the underseal... I'll get some pics up.

Hey Mav

did this to mine yesterday...was a pain to get right into the tight spots (no comments please), but if you get the axle stands high enough and prepared to lay on your back and get covered in crap (again, no comments or glass tables at work here) then you can do it ok.

Waxoyl comes with a few tubes to feed into your chassis holes, and then blast the underside with sealant. Cover the exhaust though as it stinks when burning off!

I did the wheel arches too...spent around 7 hours on it in total....but feel so much happier when the snow does start to fall.

before i had my own business i used to go to the wagon park which had drive on ramp with a steam cleaner, it was great for cleaning off before doing a waxoil, all i'd reccomend is water proofs! :oops!:

I just reverse mine onto a set of ramps, it gives you more than enough clearance to get right underneath and up to the front undertray. I used the steam cleaner at work to get it 100% clean but my car very rarely sees a wet day and comes off the road for winter so it doesnt really get that dirty :)
