next doors ford...

Postby wr1.305 » Sat Apr 25, 2009 4:15 pm

been wanting to detail a black car for a long time now. and pauls next door was a right mess... so at 9 am yesterday i got my first look at the car... and its fair to say i was starting to think i had bitten off more then i could chew. remember im not using PTG or machines. its alll by hand.

ok so now i set about washing the car using "the two bucket method" that we all know by now. however it did take 3 attempts to get the bugger clean. i used Zaino Z-7 Show Car Wash , megs lambs wool mit, and megs drying towl. i then clayed the car using Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay Kit, and actually laughed my ass off when i still saw the amout of crap still coming off the car!!!!! once clayed she was looking half decent but was coverd in sctratchs, swirling, and bird poo marks.

so i then set about attacking the car with polish... using Autoglym Super Resin Polish, and Blue Perl Microfibre Applicator Pads, with a Ultimate Ultra-Plush Buffing Cloth. i applyed 3 coats on the car!!!! yes 3 coats!!!! then i set about glazing the car (not telling you what i use as its a secret!!! lol) and to finish off a good coat of R222 Carnauba Wax. all this done, and i have shoulder ache!!!! but heres what she looks like now and it was worth it!!!!

Nice job mate, but it's a ford

I'm sure Mega will be impressed :?

Did you use Meguires "anti swirl" to get rid of the swirls? Bro recommended it to me but I've not tried it yet. Apparently you just add it to the water and it removes swirls

8) Well done Kev great job especially as you didn't use a machine :D

The super resin polish has a lot of fillers in it that mask a lot of the swirls well.
