Head on and there would have been a huuuuge bill. I did take out insurance so the most it would have cost me was the excess though but it still would have hurt and I certainly wouldnt have been able to drive it home.

Amazed :o

ouch.

big excess? Could have been a lot worse. If you;re going to do regular trackdays/racing you have to expect that once in a while something like this will happen I guess.

Don;t worry Mac-1 got his outing into the armco over and done with ages ago

excess is bigger than the damage really.

The aftermath:

Closer investigation of the damage from the accident have revealed how lucky I was. The silver scuffs that you see on the paintwork arent my paint, they are the paint from the barriers on top of mine so will clay bar out leaving remarkably few actual dents and scratches.

The front wing does need replacing but I was gobsmacked to find out that they are £71.08+vat from the main subaru dealer - BARGAIN !!

The only other two bodywork parts are the wheel arch protector and a side repeater which are £100 for the pair.

With a bit of gentle hammering the rest should be fine :D

The alloy wishbone, ball joint and track rod end took the full force of the impact but it looks like the damage stopped there as there is no damage to the actual mounting points, chassis rails or steering rack. These Subarus are very well built despite what some on here would say ;)

The brake disc on that side is history so it is a good time to upgrade to a more motorsport package. I did look at KSports but decided against them in favour of StopTech's based on others experience. Will still run these with Performance Friction pads as they have hugely impressed me over a long period of time. I may go for the .97 compound pads this time which are the compromise between the Z rated road/track version and the .01 compound full race version.

New wheels are on their way shortly to replace the damaged pair and it will be back on track soon and 100% ready (apart from some battle wounds) and tested for the Ring Trip in August

£71 for a whole wing, and £100 for wheel arch protector and side repeater?! :loony:

Good news that the plans for repairs are all under way :D

I've had a change of mind on the brakes, instead of changing to Stoptech's I have decided to stick with Performance Friction discs on the standard brembo calipers. I have always been very very happy with these so decided against spending extra money on an upgrade as tempting as it was to do.

So... these, along the other parts will be put on by me on Friday and it will be back to close to it's original state then.

Also got a couple of ABS sensors from Grade A for £40 each (better than £165 each from the dealer) to see if that fixes the ABS warnings.

Friday is going to be a hard day and test my mechanical abilities. The jobs are:

1. replace lower wishbone
2. replace ball joint for Whiteline RC adjusted version
3. replace track rod end for Whiteline version
4. replace both front discs
5. raise the car by 5mm to cope with the nurburgring's undulations and kerbs
6. re-do geometry
7. replace oil cooler core
8. check all pipework

Should be fun

anyway cracked on with a few things today and all warning lights are now gone :D :woohoo:

ABS sensors have been replaced with the £40 jobs from Grade A. These arrived next day and were a doddle to do so cracked on with them tonight - only took 20 mins to do the pair of them.

Also put my little 3 ohmn resistor into the airbar connector under the seat so now I have fully functioning ABS and Airbags.

Ride height has been upped too, so that should make it easier to trailer over to germany and should help with the ground clearance issues in the Karussel and other places where the kerbs are ridden extensively. It has had an effect on the geometry but that was all shot to pieces anyway to be honest

Next to do the suspension parts and brake discs on friday and it is all set.

wow - back from Northampton. Paul at Zen kindly offered me use of a ramp today so that I could do the bits while I was picking up the discs and whiteline jobbies. I got everything done

so today have done:

1. replace lower wishbone (the old one was scrap)
2. replace ball joint for Whiteline RC adjusted version (i have a spare too now)
3. replace track rod end for Whiteline version (also got a spare)
4. replace both front discs (how many bolts hold these fekkers on !!)
5. re-do geometry ... it was a looooooooooooooong way out :D
6. replace oil cooler core with a newer bigger core as the old on ewas split
7. check all pipework
8. replace gearbox mount with group N mount as the old one was bent by about an inch with the impact. Could not believe the damage on this, it must have taken a bit of a bash.

Got an amazing amount done, and am so thankful to Paul for this.

The trip home was awesome having to bed the brakes in according to Performance Frictions instructions... god love em :D

Nice to get home excited again B)

Sorry no pictures :(

Just back from Brands after doing testing day ....

The car survived around 140 laps of BH without too many issues so it should cope with 12.7 miles at a go next week :D

some pics:

a certain Mr Phil Glew giving it hell around the track - loved watching this in between biting all my nails off when he braked around 150 metres later than I thought I would into paddock :o

thanks Bro - I was dead chuffed I managed to get that shot.

Got some great feedback from Phil on the car's handling and set up that should help for plans for the next developments. Very useful and informative day.

ASP supplied them - Mocom fitted them

Zen do the whole package on them if you want supply and fit / alignment in one go - I am sure they will sort you out on the best price on them but they are not cheap.

I know they are not cheap.

I'll get a price from Zen and from RCM and see which is best. Sssshhhh, don't tell the wife!

Have you got any pictures of the inner wing filter you use?

Great pics Dunc.

I'd love to get a better suspension set up, quite like the prodrive setup but evertime I look at trackday pics I see how much the car is leaning!
