Best way of resizing is to... NOT resize them.

I found that if I reduced the size e.g. from 2MB original to 350Kb, photobucket keeps the dimensions of the pic and just uses the reduced quality version you made.
If you upload the 2MB straight to photobucket, they reduce size to 400kb about by making it smaller and keeping the quality.
It then fits nicely on the screen here.
