New year, new project .....

following on from last year's project: forum/viewtopic.php?t=8731

Plans have taken a while to set in stone and while there is still an awful lot that is not finally decided and lots that will change during the year, the general direction is clear.

The main emphasis will be: Lower, Wider, Lighter.

However the main changes include:
- ECU to enable me to run a 5th injector to cope with fueling for pure E85
- suspension modifications
- weight reduction and lowering of C.O.G.

Whilst still retaining it as a daily driver and a car that I can drive over to the ring - that is going to be the challenge.

Power is currently 545 bhp & 603 lb/ft so no slouch but the work will make the car more rapid on track and competitive within Time Attack 2009. Pilot improvement will also be a main part of the programme ;)

I have been very fortunate to get some great support for this year - more on those later when the graphics are applied but I really appreciate the help, support and assistance given by all.

First port of call is off to ABW Coachworks in Essex (ABW) for some widening and custom work. Daren and the team there will be waving their magic over the car and handing back something unique, distinctive and fit for purpose 8)

This year really starts tomorrow when it goes down there - cant wait :D

Progress pics will be added as I go and will be shown on the new Race Dynamix website Race Dynamix ... (once I finish building it .... )

Cheers guys

More Fuel:

I have been sorting out how to fit the extra injector for the past few days. This will be fitted into the FMIC piping prior to this entering the throttle body. I will be using an 850cc side feed injector and half of a std fuel rail from a classic impreza to hold the injector in. This will be mounted onto the FMIC piping and using wiring from the Tumble Generator Valve mechanism that was removed from the car, the new ecu (Solaris for those interested) will be able to send a signal down this wiring to fire the extra injector 4 times more than the current primary injectors. ie fire it once for each cylinder.

This is needed because at the 40% mix of E85 that I run at the moment I top out the 850cc injectors at 106% IDC even with fuel pressure turned up to 4 bar static pressure. I can't go any higher on the fuel pressure for fear of heating the fuel up too much and 1100cc injectors are rare and unreliable. I will be running 100% E85 so need another approx 20% fuel than I have now.... ie another 680cc - 850cc should give me some headroom.

Sorry to burble on but although I am not chasing extra power with this element, I believe that a little bit more will come from purely the change of fuel and the higher energy content within E85 (and some more from additional timing)... possibly taking it to a combined 1200 for bhp & torque.

Very nice...like the white in the decals..they set it off very nicely.

ABW used to attend the Southend meets when we went and they always had a modified(Bodywork) scoob and it was always very well done and "individual" :thumb:

Cutting out the doors - no point sticking stuff over the top where a weight saving could be made...
