No 495- bought Saturday

After deliberation and much umming and aahing whether to go M3 or WR1- I bought No 495 from a dealer in Coventry on Saturday. I almost bought number 125 on Friday but due to a private plate change delay i plumped for 495.

Both were spotless though Steves No 125 has only 13,500 on the clock and is a bargain waiting to be had- steve will entertain ?18-18,250 so it is at a good price!!! anyone anyone

I got 495 with 35,000 on the clock for ?14,895- an absolute steal for a mint WR1 I thought.

Unreal car- will take a bit of getting used to- my old UK300 was quick but this is a fecking animal. It doesnt 'feel' as fluid quick as my old one but it is far quicker and the power is just immense- leaving you feeling very 'on the edge ' when you give it some eh? Awesome, just awesome.

welcome

sounds like a dealer bought it, and if it's mint then they certainly tidied it up ready for re-sale. good to have you on board and hope you enjoy the car :thumb:

interesting- was it advertised in shabby condition before then? I found the ad on here from October but wasnt a member back then. if you see it it is spotless inside and out and the engine, wheel arches and underside are all pristine. RAC didnt pick up on variable paint thickness either- which always suggests resprays.

Engine feels tight as a drum and gearbox is lovely and close. Mind you I guess all those can be worked on

Shame if it has been retouched- thought i had found a cracker- should have known at that price i guess.

WELCOME!
Even if it has some work on it if it is only cosmetic and at that price you cant go wrong and if it was missed by the RAC then chances are if you ever decide to sell it on the next buyer will just think that it was well looked after example.
ive had mine since august and i still cant stop smiling when i am in it. apart from when i have to keep filling it up with optimax but i can live with that.

Congratulations on getting the car :thumb: Who cares if you slipped a few extra quid into the deal? Most of us paid 30K. I'd rather be in your shoes! I have never, ever, driven a car that was better balanced and more confidence-inspiring than the WR1. I would certainly have crashed other cars with both less and more power and spent most of my time feeling frustrated that I couldn't use the car properly anyway. The WR1 is the most forgiving car-with-power that I have ever driven and I believe will rapidly become a hidden classic. Hang onto it, and have fun

martin originally had the car advertised for £12500, but for some reason changed the price a couple of weeks after he advitised it.After about a month he put it on for sale on pistonheads, and sold it to some dealer in coventry who sold the vehicle whithin a day.he may have paid a lot more for it than martin originally advertised it for, but if thegunners bought it from a dealer then atleast he has someone to go back to if anything goes wrong with it.

?12,500? I saw his ad at ?13,500. Still, the devils in the details. The car wasnt MOTd when martin sold it but the dealer sorted this out and it flew through with no advisories. Despite it all being MOT legal, I have replaced the brake discs, pads, front tyres, new spark plugs and put it through its 30,000 mile service to bring it back to mint. I imagine that was why Martin was trying to shift it cheap- I was told that the poor guy had lost his job so couldnt afford to run the car and it was just sitting in his garage. Nonetheless I have had all that done this week - as well as sticking in ?2k of reference audio so 495 is back to its best

I am doing a bit of a Spec D 'wolf in sheeps clothing' number on it. I have debadged it and changing rear spoiler to STi Spec C. I can always revert back to standard anytime but am liking the less lairy look at the mo.
