Hi! I didn't know you were all here. I've owned 318 'Finlay' since Sept. '04 and after b*ggering my second splitter on a cattle grid yesterday (yep, Fri. 13th) I thought I'd have a look and see if I could find a cheap replacement. Lo and behold, the world became a little smaller.

No idea how I can post some pics (doesn't seem to work) but I'd be happy to oblige. Good to find you all.

did this one come from crossroads ? they had one for sale a while back with big brake upgrade and the mesh in the bonnet... :D

Bought the car from new a year and a half ago, and had the bonnet mesh spec'ed as part of the purchase. Had a splitter too, but after having gone through two of them have decided not to replace (see seperate thread).

The AP brake upgrade went on about 6 months ago as the Brembo's weren't man enough to cope with track days. Haven't had a chance to really try them out but have been in others and the difference is very obvious.

You're right that there was another 1 on the Crossroads forecourt, and in fact I went to Spa with the ex-owner. That too had the bonnet mesh and the AP brakes, but the difference was that that one had red calipers whereas I prefered the black and yellow to fit in with the car's colour scheme. Mine were the first black/yellow calipers Crossroads fitted (so I'm told).

The WR1 that was on the forecourt was sold to someone from South Wales. Don't know if he's on the site here or not.

Glad you liked the pics. I'll try and put some more up when I get a chance to do more pic snapping

I've just had a thought - probably embarrasing at that  . When Crossroads did the bonnet mod I was charged for a new bonnet, so where's my old one :?:

Hmm. I can feel an awkward phone call coming on :x

Er....yes, hadn't thought of it like that

Did anyone spot the dent?

Might sound a daft question, why fit a vent like that if still using a top mount intercooler as the warm air from the front rads is going to go straight int the scoop, probably negating most of the cooling. :suss:

It's not a daft question, Sumo. In fact, it's a very good one.

The vent is fake. It's simply me giving in to vanity when I saw it on another '1'. The vent has blackened perspex below the wire, and has heat shielding between it and the engine bay, so the bonnet is essentially still a solid one-piece. There is a lip around the vent but the aero effect is minimal and doesn't affect airflow to the intercooler.
