No chance of achieving the fuel consumption figures.

Ah !

I never check fuel consumption firgures when looking at a car's datasheet.

Considering it's a big and heavy V8 with a few turbos, I would think an average of 14-11MPG would be realistic.

EDIT: :oops!:... V10 with few turbos !

Heather doesn't get 14mpg out of her normally aspirated small car!

Not surprising.

I bet the RS4 actually isn't much lighter than the RS6.

:oops!:

Why do I have no issues with imagining the S6 is a V10 but I keep having in my head the RS6 is a V8.

Once drove the old RS6 and wasn't impressed. The current RS4 like mrs.Bro has is much nicer.

Might try to get a drive in an S6 once next week when over in the UK and try to see when the RS6 is coming.

Earlier this year my little brother was thinking about an (old shape) RS6 so I went to collect him and I got him to drive to the Audi stealership in my STi. the idea being having driven there in my car he wouldn't be blown away by the RS6's performance. It worked a treat and you should have seen the look on the salesman's face when he asked my brother what he thought of the performance and got the response that it didnt really feel as fast as the car he had driven down in 8)

Most surprising to me was the car had quite a serious vibration which I am amazed they didn't fix before allowing prospective buyers to demo it.

One thing to note is like you have modified your car... far cheaper mods on an old RS6 can release a hell of a lot of bhp and torque.

Exhaust and remap is possible. Seems there is a fair amount of torque still available from what I have read. The only problem with the remapping is that it I haven't found a company that have a good reputation. I also believe you have to physically break into the ECU so you can't really hide it from the dealers. I'm not sure how true this is though. Bob Rawle seemed happy enough at the idea. I will speak to him about it when Heather is ready. As it stands, she is more than happy with the car in standard form.

Robin

that would have been a warped alloy, the 19" standard rs6 rims are notorious for warping just on pot holes and cats eyes, I had to put a set on mine.

the last thing you want in an rs6 is an annoying vibration thru the steering wheel !!

lets not make a mistake, the RS6 certainly the one I had was very fast ! it would leave ANYTHING that came up behind you rapidly in the distance.

you'd look down and your doing 160mph

surely it would be something you would look at as a possible way of saving money if you can get better MPG out of a remap?

Sensible girl - leave it well alone. After all if you want a faster one Audi will have one along shortly anyway!! They seem bring out new models as fast as the weather changes these days, cant keep up.

RS6 is too big for Heather. I suggested she hung on for it instead of the RS4. A new RS4 in 3 years will do just nicely!!

The RS4 remains a very nice car. The evidence is that it keeps its value much better than most other S or RS Audi's.

Tried meanwhile to get my hands on an A6 4.2 or S6 for a testdrive in the UK. All dealers go "No, we only can get you to drive a diesel". They're happy to sell me an S6 though... :tosser:
