Postby POESY » Tue May 08, 2007 5:57 pm

Well finally decided to get myself a better everyday motor...

...and on saturday I picked up my 55 plate, 4,600 mile Renault Clio Trophy No.131 and havent stopped :) ing since.

Anyone fancy a white evo 8, going cheap - the clio is sooooooo much more fun and far 8) er.

I can see the interest people have in the Clio... But it certainly isn't cool unless it is your birds car and you use it to pop to the local shops via the rally stage!!

I don't believe for one second that you truly prefer it to the Evo...

How are the Evo mods coming along Poesy?

Long time no post? Are we all forgiven yet?

I disagree, i think the Clio trophy is a very 8) little car. Meant to be a fantastic drivers car although i have not driven one myself.

I think i would prefer an FQ400 mind you, but i totally understand where Poesy is coming from which i do not always do

The Trophy is a great little car. Very, very 8) - no doubt. Cooler than the evo ?? Well here's some evidence :

Since delivery I havent even remotely wanted to drive the evo. Ragg it all day (none of that cool down crap either), still get 27.2 mpg, brakes dont fade, tyres dont wear out, Police dont pull you over every 5 mins.

Another bonus is that now i'm the one doing the chasing rather than being chased. Evos/scoobs - Brands on the 30th - bring em on

Another is being able to get away from the evo/scoob image which is really going downhill these days. Much like the cossie before I think these car's days are numbered. The bottom has fallen out of the market and they're just seen as socially embarrassing to 99% of the population.

Biggest bonus though is that it cost 1/4 as much and ive got other things to put my

:shake: still NOT on the cool wall

I gotta say you've had a downer on scoobs and evo;s for a while "chavvy" I think was the term that keeps cropping up

So you selling the Evo then?

Yes socially is embarrassing, all and sundry have classics now, they've got rid of there clio's, saxo's and brought old dogs that are so much more faster, and they love it !!! Lost count of the young tossers driving around in classic's down here, and they give all owners a bad name, for a 40 year old to be tarnish with the same brush is just dumb
The bottom to has fallen out of the market, but it's fallen out of all the motor industry not just scoob's/evo's !

But a clio still ain't cooler than what you've got Neil and everyone here agrees
But it your choice fella and if your happy thats all that matters

Yeah.

Had it a few years now and fancy a change tbh.

Probably gona have a couple of years out of serious cars, money going into other things right now, then hopefully treat myself to something flashy later on.

No secret I dont think that i'd love a 997, but just cant afford one right now and running an FQ400 doesnt help I can assure you  Gotta go backwards to go forwards type scenario i'm facing here fella :?

Just catching up here and I ABSOLUTELY agree with Poesy's choice.

The only time my Type 25 has ever been near the track is 10 laps of Donington (seperate thread coming about that). Although I was rather ginger around the track I would give the engine a sensible run on the straight up to 6600rpm.

...... and then I was overtaken by a Clio

- through a bend

- in a car which is supposed to wreak havoc against most supercars

- and the Clio was a quarter of the price of my car

My jaw dropped, I'm afraid

Fair enough, I'm not anywhere near a good driver, and the Clio was being driven by Rob Huff, and it was on slicks too. But nevertheless, I'm sure the Clio would easily be as much fun as anything we own. Of course I would beat him on the straight but that's not much fun at all. In fairness. I was being very cautious, but that little rocket looked fantastic.

Can't disagree with Poesy on this one. Drove a Clio Trophy once myself and loved the way it handled.

They're very efficient, hence why in rallying, on twisty stages, they'll give a big gr.N a run for its money.

I would love to own both.
