Week of the 20-th, but without Evo.

So why did they do the bolts ? Do ensure the engine doesn't explode when you get 400 lbft ?

Apparently the bolts that come with teh car are likely to snap and spew engine all over the road!!

When I got the fuel pump fitted @ Engine advantages he also said about renewing bolts to acheive higher torque-assumed these are the same ones.

Though it was the conrod bolts that were the weak point in the engine when tuned???

No Problemo matey,

If you raggo of course the clutch will explode but many do 30k+ with no problems

Turbo is also good for up to 400bhp

Dunno about warranty at upping the bhp levels only,i only asked about the torque,BHP aint an issue as it goes quick enough @ top end!!It would be nice to get there quicker though

Thats what Spike is talking about.

You can access the caps via the sump on pretty much any in line 4.
Undo the nuts, remove the cap, push the bolts through the rod and then install new ones.

Hmmm... :?

You remind me I need to call these guys.

Mine was nicely pushing 1.5-1.6 bars on normal days in any gear.

Now, it 4-th, 5-th and 6-th, it pushes 1.8 and stays there pretty long, only gently going back to 1.6. (1-st, 2nd and 3rd, you just get massive wheelspin once the boost hits 1.2-1.3 so it doesn't go up anymore)

I wonder if it's the cold combined with the humidity.

Donald told me I shouldn't have any issues with the cold as the air was dry enough and hence not really more dense. But for the next month, it will be humid until the sea freezes shut.

Might be that I need to back off a bit in those gears.

Mmmmmm.

I'd take what you are being told with a pinch of salt fella.

A "real" 400/400 evo is unlikely to run a standard turbo - what sort of boost level do they expect to run - mine runs at 1.75 bar on fair size bigger turbo and still doesnt make 400lb/ft - and the standard clutch has absolutely no chance of withstanding 400lb/ft, no chance at all.

The power levels are also influenced by intercooler area, induction pipework, injector size, feul pump flow rate, etc, etc - any of this being uprated.

Not trying to pi$$ on your parade matey, just heard it all before, particularly on the MLR, and you need to be sure your not getting fed sales talk, rather than reality.

No idea mate,

I dont think Donald would bother tryng to sell me something that wil destroy the car bearing in mind he knows my history of dealers trying to fook me!!!

He also said he would not do work on cars that was not safe-even before he sold them to any of us.

Also speaking to many on MLR wrc have doen hundreds with no turbos, etc and all are functioning OK??

Its a minefield, its up to the individual if he wished to enter it on the info of the tuners etc ,but I dont suppose any of them want bad press or would make false promises,as if things dont live up to expectaions you dont pay!!

I would not like to comment on mitsis safety thresholds. I simply dont have the experience or knowledge of them.

I would certainly agree with Poesy though that 400 ft/lb is going to trash a standard 9 clutch if that is what Spike has in.

If your happy mate, go for it.

Be interesting to have a head to head afterwards to see if it really has done what they predicted/promised.

Loser buys dinner  and a bigger turbo
